Slow printing or locking up when printing multiple print jobs or large PDF files (500 pages+).
Most noticeable when using a NearStar® application.
Solution
When the machine is printing multiple print jobs,it will cycle between the print jobs slowing the machinedown, and if the queue fills up enough, it could "lock
up".
The reason the machine cycles between print jobs is becauseitchecks which printer language (PCL or PostScript) the next print job is using.
Toprevent this from happening, the machine needs to identfy which PDL to use.To accomplish this, please perform the following settings:

Description
Current firmware causes the blade counter to count a single "click" for each side of a print, regardless of the size. As a result, the blade appears to fail
prematurely. The issue is not physical failure of the blade, but the way prints it is counted, since "long" prints are supposed to count 2 clicks per side. The net
effect is that the blade lasts for the correct number of prints, but the prints are under-counted.
Solution
This issueis corrected with Image ControlSpecial Firmware (I0): Ver. GU3-20 .
This new firmware adds the ability to select the count valueof the blade counter when large size paper isprinted. The default large size parts count operation is
now set to "2" counts.

How to adjust for light density/poor fill in a high altitude, low humidity environment.
Solution
In altitudes above 6000 feet with relative humidity below 25% it may be necessary to compensate for charge potential and transfer issues by performing the
following adjustments:
1. Reduce thedeveloper bias voltage by 33% (Example: if set to 90, reduce it to 60),due to less charge on the drum at this altitude.
2. Increase the amount of transfer by 33% (Example: if set at 27, increaseto 40).
Notes :
a. Be careful not to set transfer too high or corona arcing may result.
b. It is very important to perform the procedure to improve solid density on single or duplex copies at the same time that these adjustments are made.

After installation of the enhancement kit described in Technical Bulletin #7242 (copy attached), a top-to-bottomdensity imbalance on solids or halftones may
be noticed due to a height difference of the LED unit. This maybe noticable only if the customer prints full-page continuous tone solids or halftones.
Solution
CAUSE: A small number of drum carriage assemblies in the enhancement kitswere improperly adjusted at the factory.Adjustment cannot be performed in the
field, so replacement of the drum carriage is necessary.
SOLUTION: A limited number of drum carriage assemblies are availableto replace these units. The unit can be obtained using the following process:
1. A ticket must be opened specifically identifying this condition and must be within the serial numbers listed in bulletin #7242 (attached).
2. Samples (test pattern #9 at 255 & 70)and management lists must be provided to ESS to determine if the condition exists due to the LED height.
3. Samples will be evaluated by ESS.If it is determined that the problem is caused bythe LED height adjustment, approval will be issued for theordering of a

NVRAM Troubleshooting Procedure used to identify NVRAM problems andinformation concerning damaged or missing NVRAM/BRU.
Solution
bizhub C250/C252/C300/C350/C351/C450
NVRAM trouble codes (C-D3xx codes) can occur at any time. Mostly these codes happen when updating firmware. A NVRAM Data Restore procedure can
be used to address these codes:
Stop, 0, 7, 1, 3, 9, *
What this procedure does is take a good image of the NVRAM off the MFP board (created when you performed the NVRAM Data Backup) and restore it to
the NVRAM. There are approximately 30 registers that can be corrupt, so the above procedure may have to be done as much as 30 times.
WARNING : If a corrupt NVRAM is suspected, DO NOT perform the NVRAM Data Backup. This will take the corrupt NVRAM image and back it up to the
MFP board. If this is done, and the NVRAM is replaced, the corrupt data that was just backed up will be transferred to the new NVRAM. If this is the case,
then the NVRAM and MFP board will have to be replaced as a set.
If a corrupt NVRAM is suspected, please try performing a Data Clear. This can be found in the Tech Rep mode.
CAUTION : All programmed addresses will be cleared. Please backup the address data using PageScope Web Connection to backup the data before
performing the Data Clear. If NVRAM replacement is necessary please be aware that the meters may not be transferred and they might be reset to zero. This
is unrecoverable and the correct meters cannot be input.
8020/CF2002/8031/CF3102
Codes C-3C00 through C-3C40 indicate a corrupt BRU.
Codes C-3C50 through C-3C90 indicates a problem with the PWB-C board or the scanner to main body cable.

How to install an indicator light system (Status indicator light).
Solution
Konica Minolta does not supply an indicator light system. However, one can be purchased and installed. The following information is needed.
Pin 1 is not used (would be a ground but our system switches to ground)
Pin 2 connected to the BLACK wire in the light harness(+24 volt power lead)
Pin 3 is connected to the ORANGE wire in the light harness and causes the AMBER light to come on. This happens when the machine is out of toner.
Pin 4 is connected to the RED wire in the light harness and causes the RED light to come on. This happens when there is a machine paper jam or when
there is a paper mismatch from the Fiery® controller and the Detail Check button comes on requiring customer interaction.
Pin 5 is connected to the GREEN wire in the light harness and causes the GREEN light to come on. This happens when the machine is operating
normally (making copies). The BLUE light is also on at this time.
Pin 6 is connected to the BLUE wire in the light harness and causes the BLUE light to come on. This happens when the machine is on and ready to

How to store and recall Forms and Overlays.
Solution
For a more efficient workflow, it is possible to send a form or other image data to the MFP’s HDD one time using the Pagescope Data Administrator Font
Management Utility plug-in, and then call the form/overlay as a Macro for each name and address. This workflow results in the printer driver only sending the
macro call, name, and address information across the network, using the stored form data at the MFP. This saves time, space, and network bandwidth.
This type of workflow can be advantageous for processing tax forms, shipping forms, invoices, brochures and any other single- or multiple-page form that
uses variable data. The explanation below presents the simplified concept of storing and retrieving forms.

1. Poor contact between the PCC corona and its grounding tab resulting in erratic operation.
Grounding Tab
Inspect the PCC corona grounding tab.To inspect, remove the cleaning unit and insure that the grounding tab is in contact with the grounding pin and the
PCC shell.
Step 1
Increase the offset value at leading edge 1 (by 10 steps).
When the belt separation and leading edge image quality appears to be deteriorated, decrease the value.
87
bizhub PRO 1200 Paper Conveyance jams, no-feed, folding, tearing, skewing, curling
3. Jam Sensor Board (JAMB) is falsely detecting jams due toclose proximity to the pre-cleaning corona (PCC unit).
Install insulating material on the solder side of the JAMB (between the JAMB and the PCC unti). If the JAMB (Detecting Board Assembly)has failed, replace
it. (p/n A0G6 H160 00)
5. The gap between the transfer belt and the separator guide is greater than 0.7mm (0.7 mm = 7 sheets of 80 gsm paper).
Perform Transfer belt adjustment procedure (M1) shown in the bizhub 1051/1200/1200P Troubleshooting Guide. Adjust the gap so that is greater than
0.1mm and less than 0.7mm (between 1 and 6 sheets of 80 gsm paper).
6. Too much backlash between the transfer drive motor (M30) and the transfer belt drive gear.
Perform adjustment #8 (drive gear adjustment of the transfer belt). Check the backlash of the drive gears. For detailed procedures, see the attached
documentation. To view a PDF, you may need to download a free copy of Adobe Reader®.

SD-501/SD-506, J-7584 (J72-89 for bizhub PRO 1050 series) when making booklets either trimming or not trimming.
Solution
PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. PS55 (Trimmer Registration) is always ON.
Check PS55 using I/O input code 71-68. The normal reading when not actuated should be LOW. If HI is indicated, the sensor may have failed or the
actuating mechanism is not functioning properly. Ensure that the black plastic actuator flagging PS55 is operating correctly. If necessary, replace PS55 (p/n
08AA 8551 2).
2. Improper operation of PS55 due to poor connection at CN291 of PS55 or a damaged wiring harness.
To check the functionality of PS55, perform the following:
a. Access the Service Mode and check the functionality of PS55 using the input mode code 71, multimode 68. The sensor should display a state of [L] when
it is not flagged and change to a state of [H] when it is flagged.
b. If, the sensor displays a state of [H] when it is flagged or un-flagged inspect CN291 at PS55 to ensure that
c. If, the problem is still experienced after ensuring CN55 is properly attached to PS55, inspect the wiring harness leading to PS55 which is located on the left
side of the bundle press section (DC Relay Wiring /I). Wire ties could be too tight resulting in damage to the wire harness. Remove the wiring tie(s) to check
for possible harness damage. Repair or replace the wiring harness (p/n 15AN 9081 1E) as necessary.
Note : Please ensure that the harness has some slack to prevent disconnection.

Solution
PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. One or both of trimmer unit swing springs (left or right) has broken.
Replace both springs together - Swing spring/Left (p/n 15AN 5029 2F) and Swing spring/Right (p/n 15AN 5030 2F).
CAUTION : If the SD-501 serial number falls below 15AQ03302 or begins with the 15AN prefix, the modified Swing Plate/A (p/n 15AN 5027 1E) must be
installed when installing the spring(s).
3. The set screws securing the front pulley that drives the bundle press belts have loosened causing slack in the belt. This causes a misdetection of the
Bundleregistration home sensor (PS34).
Tighten the set screws, check belt tension and run the system to ensure error does not reoccur.
4. Paper scraps from the trimmer have packed into Bundle registration home sensor (PS34) causing the belt to overdrive which bends the sensor mounting
bracket.
Clean the sensor, remove the paper scraps and test the operation of the sensor in the I/O state confirmation modefor proper operation. Replace the sensor
(p/n 08AA 8551 2)if needed.
Reform the mounting bracket (Detection Plate/2)or replace the bracket(p/n 15AN 5188 0).To access the sensor, remove the Trimmer Unit.

Description
GP-501, J-7590 or J-7595 and paper may be skewed.
Solution
PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. The paper is not being guided correctly to the alignment plate after punching. By carefully observing the paper passage through the GP-501 (with the
GP-501 left cover removed, it is possible to see the paper passage by printing with the RU-506 front door open), it is evident that the paper exits from the
lower alignment area and rides over the bottom of the alignment guide. The position of the Aligner, Exit Idler Weldment (rear side bottom corner) is not in
contact with the frame (it can be pushed inwards 3 - 4mm). The front side, bottom corner is OK.
The position of the Aligner, Exit Idler Weldment can be checked from the front side of the GP-501.If the Aligner, Exit Idler Weldment can be moved 3 - 4mm
by inserting a screwdriver, it is not in the correct position.
The Aligner, Exit Idler Weldment has to be removed from the GP-501 and bent into position. To do this, remove Latch Assembly, Aligner) and then remove
the Aligner, Exit Idler Weldment.

Troubleshooting J-7217 jam code for the FS-521.
Solution
J-7217 signifies that the main tray exit sensor (PS10) did not turn OFF within a specified period of time after the stacker entrance sensor (PS5) turned OFF.
When the code frequently occurs, parts related to the drive may fail or conveyance force may be weakened.
Check the following:
1. Conveyance force of stacker entrance roller
2. Burr or unsmooth part of the conveying part
3. Roller and roller color conveyance force
4. Operation of solenoid (use I/O check mode)
5. Paper conveyance force
6. Operation of alignment plate (including at shifting, does it move too much?)

LS-505, breakage of the Holder Belt spring.
Solution
CAUSE: When the Holder Belt spring is broken, stacked paper is misaligned or jamming occurs during stacking on LS main tray. If LS is used
continuously, excessive load is applied to the joint partcausing damage of the holder. Consequently, the belt breaks. The stand-by position of the holder is
located very near the pulley. While in stand-by status, the holder swings unintentionally. Then excessive load is placed on the springand it is damaged. A
firmware update is required.
Install LS-505 firmware versionG00-55 which causes the standby position of the holderto change as shown in the following figure.

When printing the image/document from QuarkXPress® 7 and 8, printer settings (e.g., copies, Duplex, Booklet etc.) do not work with Macintosh® OS
10.4.x/10.5.x.
Solution
CAUSE: This issue occurs in relation to the QuarkXPress® 7 and 8print process (a restriction of QuarkXPress®) andMacintosh® OS 10.4.x/10.5.x.
The application calls "pstops" filter (PostScript to PostScript filter) to reflect the print settings that were set within the printer driver. The driver settings are
converted to the PostScript command with this filter.
However, QuarkXPress® calls the "quarkpstops" filter (original filter of Quark) instead of the "pstops" filter. QuarkXPress® stores the driver settings in
"JobTicket" then this "JobTicket"is converted to the PostScript command by "quarkpstops".
When receiving a large JobTicket, "quarkpstops" filter cannot process it.
At this time, driver settings are processed as a default settings. As a result, driver settings do not work.
Both thebizhub PRO 1051/1200/1200P and bizhub PRO 950 PS Plug-in driverscreate a large JobTicket because these PPDs have many printer features.
SOLUTION: For QuarkXPress® 7 and 8withMacintosh® OS 10.4.x/10.5.x environments you will need to utilize the Konica Minolta PS(P) driver to be able to
print with all features.

SD-501/SD-506, error codes C-1245, C-1258 C-1411 or SC77-64, SC77-77, SC77-95 (bizhub PRO 1050 series). Abnormal noise may accompany the error.
Solution
CAUSE: The DC relay wiring/1 of the bundle press stage interferes with the bundle arm unit at tie-wrap location shown in the attached document.
Consequently, the wiring is damaged and short-circuits to ground generatingthe error code(s).
SOLUTION: Replace the DC relay wiring/1 (p/n 15AN 9081 0) and perform the procedure in the attached documentation.
C-1245 or SC77-64
CAUSE: OPEN ICP8 on the SD Drive Board (SDDB) due to a short between the paper exit roller shaft and wiring harness (Motor Relay Wiring C) to the
Bundle arm motor (M10). The designed gap between the roller shaft and the metal plate is 15mm; however, the wire routing may not hold the harness close
enough to the plate.
SOLUTION: Secure the wiring harness with a self-adhesvive wiring clamp (recommended p/n 00Z921003) to prevent that part of the wiring from interfering
with the roller shaft. This change was made during production beginning with serial number 15AB01280. For complete instructions, refer to the attached
procedure.
Note : If the wiring has been damaged, it will be necessary to replace the wiring harness (p/n 15AN 9069 0) and the SD Drive Board (p/n 15AN -932 1F).
C-1258 or SC77-77
PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. Worm gear of bundle press motor (M23) is loose due to set screw(s) not gripping shaft because of insufficient lock agent or a set position failure.
Bundle press section does not return to its home position and it cannot be detected by the bundle press home sensor.
After the operation starts, bundle press section does not move to the predefined position and it cannot be detected.
Abnormal noise also may occur since the motor keeps rotating when gears do not engage properly.
If the worm gear is not worn or the edge part of the worm gear is not cracked, reinstall it on the motor. If the gear is damaged, replace it (p/n 15AN 7720 1E).
Note : When tightening the worm gear set screw(s), please apply a lock agent like Loctite® 290 ("older" SD-501 M23 motor worm gears have one set screw
whereas the more recent production models have two screws).
2. The bundle press home position sensor (PS37) is not being actuated by the bundle press motor (M23). The bundle press cable is wrapping around itself
causing the unit raise up at an angle instead of parallel.
Inspect and realign the cable to wind properly around the capstan. If the bundle press cable needs to be rewrapped, the Bundle Press will need to be
removed for service. Documentation for Bundle press removal and Bundle Press Wire installation is attached.
Note : To view the attached documents, you may need to download a free copy of Microsoft® Excel® Viewer (74MB).
3. One or both of trimmer unit swing springs (left or right) has broken.
Replace both springs together - Swing spring/Left (p/n 15AN 5029 2F) and Swing spring/Right (p/n 15AN 5030 2F).
CAUTION : If an SD-501 serial number falls below 15AQ03302 or begins with the 15AN prefix, the modified Swing Plate/A (p/n 15AN 5027 1E) must be
installed when installing the spring(s).
5. Failed Bundle press stage up down motor (M24) and Gear 4/42T.
Replace drive motor (p/n 129U 8004 2) and gear (p/n 12AJ 7706 1).
C-1411 or SC77-95
PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. Loss of 5V DC on SDDB (green LED not lit). OPEN ICP1 on SDDB (ICP1 is located near CN100 on bottom middle of PWB).
With power ON, check each side of the ICP with a voltmeter set on DC volts. If the ICP is OPEN, one side of the ICP will have 5V DC and the other side will
0V DC. If the ICP is OPEN, replace the SD driver board (p/n 15AN -932 1F).
Note : Attached is the troubleshooting procedure to resolve SDDB ICP1 failures as there are many components connected to this ICP. To view the PDF,
you may need to download a free copy of Adobe Reader®.

Solution
PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. The Up/Down Gear/C (p/n 15AN 7744 0), Staple Up/Down Gear B (p/n 120H 7709 0) and/or Staple Up/Down Shaft (p/n 15AN 4242 0) is damaged.

IMPORTANT :As a preventative measure, apply EM-30L grease (p/n 00GR00220) to the Up/Down Gear/C on the next service visit. After that, please apply
grease every 750,000 copies. Grease is applied during the manufacturing process, but possibly dries upover time.
The gear location can be seen when the left door of SD-501/SD-506 is opened. Using a long brush or similar, apply the grease under good light (flashlight).
CAUTION : TurnOFF the power switch before starting the work and please be careful that grease does not fall off of the gear.
2. Failed M20 (clincher up/down motor) which"appears" to function normally, but lacks speed and strength to lift the clinchers and activate PS26 (clincher
up/down home sensor) at the designated time (for reference, please see attached SD-501 Theory of Operation).
The commutator in M20 becomes dirty and fails to make good connection with the brushes. The motor loses strength and speed or may fail tocommence
rotating. When continuity is measured with a meter, reading will fluctuate wildly as the shaft is slowly turned, indicating poor connection through the
commutator to the windings of the armature.
Replace M20 (DC Brush Motor/1 - p/n 15AQ M103 00).
4. The staple clincher wiring is disconnected or the solenoid stopper portion of the staple clincher breaks.
Check the staple clincher wiring connection. The shape of the staple Assy/B has been changed. Please replace the part andseeSD-501 Bulletin Number
