3 Power+Electronic+Switching Sheet+3doc

The document outlines the analysis of switching circuits with various components including resistors, inductors, and capacitors. It provides expressions for current and voltage in circuits with different configurations when a DC source is applied. The calculations involve forced and natural responses for the current and voltage across the components.

Switching Circuits

1 –When the switch SW is closed

i(t) = v/R = 100/80 =5/4 A

2- When the switch SW is closed

V(t) = VR + VL
= R*i + L di/dt
V/L = R/L * i + di/dt
i(t) = i F(t) + iN (t) iF Forced –Steady state component
IN Natural – Transient Component
iF(t)
= V/L * L/R = 100/80 = 5/4 A
iN(t)
= A e-R/L t = -5/4 e-800 t
i(t)= 5/4 ( 1 – e-800t )
VL = L di/dt = 100 *10-3 * d/dt( 5/4( 1- e-800t))
= e-800 t V
3-When the switch SW is closed

V(t) = VR + VC + VL
= R*i + 1/C ∫ i(t) dt + L di/dt
0 = (di/dt)2 + R/L di/dt + 1/ LC i
0 = s2 + R/L s + 1/ LC

i(t) = i F(t) + iN (t) iF Forced –Steady state component

0 = s + 2 ξ ωn s + ωn
2 2

iF = 100/80 = 5/4 A IN Natural – Transient Component

iN(t) = A1 e + A2 e
λ1 t λ2t

ζ=1/2 *R/L = ½ * 80/100*10-3 = 400 Ω/H

ωo = 1/ √LC = 1000 √10 rad/sec
i(t) = e-800t (0.8 sin 100√984 t
VL = L di/dt = 100 810-3 d / dt [(e-800t (0.8 sin 100√984 t) ]
VC = 1/c ∫ i(t) dt = 1/ 500*10-6 ∫ [e-800t (0.8 sin 100√984 t] dt
