This is the subjective part of your examination. Write the answers on a paper, then scan and upload it in the
appropriate classroom. All questions are compulsory.

R4ET2001S - Signals & Systems

Section 1: 5 marks per question 5

1. Explain the given system with respect to (i) Time Invariance and (ii) Causality. y(n) = Σ x(k) , k=
-∞ to ∞

Section 2: 10 marks per question 10

1. Find Fourier Series expansion of FWR cosine wave and plot its spectrum.

Section 3: 5 marks per question 10

1. Find Laplace transform of x(t) = exp[-a(t+1)] u(t+1)

2. Find the impulse response of system initially at rest having differential equation ( D^2 + 3D +
2)y(t)= x(t) , D-Differentiation wrt 't'.

Section 4: 5 marks per question 10

1. The transfer function of a causal LTI system is,

H(Z) = ( 1- z^-1)/(1+(3/4)z^-1)
(a) Find the impulse response of the system
(b) Find the output of the system to the input x(n) = (1/3)^n u(n) + u(-n-1)
2. Develop parallel form realization for the digital filter with transfer function.
H(z) = ( 1+ 2z^-1+ z^-2)/(1-0.75z^-1+ 0.125z^-2)
Using first order systems.

Section 5: 5 marks per question 5

1. The impulse response of linear time invariant is h(n) = { 1, 2, 1, -1 } ( arrow mark is at 2 ) ,

determine the response of system to the input x(n) = { 1, 2, 3, 1 } ( arrow mark is at 2 ) , Use
