III. COURSE DESCRIPTION

1. Inverse Functions, logarithmic functions, exponential functions, separable differential equations, rates
of growth, inverse trigonometric functions, L’Hopital’s rule.
2. Basic integration formulas, integration by parts, partial fractions, trigonometric Integrals,
trigonometric substitution, improper integrals.
3. Conic sections, parametric equations
4. Three dimensional coordinate systems, vectors, dot product, cross product, lines and planes in space.
5. Vector functions, arc length, unit tangent vector, curvature, unit normal vector, torsion and unit
binormal vector, tangential and normal components of acceleration.

• 1.Compute derivatives and integrals for transcendental functions
• 2. Use algebraic techniques such as trigonometric substitution, partial
fractions decomposition, integration by parts to evaluate integrals

• 3. Find indefinite and improper integrals using different integration


techniques, and apply L'Hopital's rule for evaluating improper integrals.
• 4. Use tests to decide about the convergence of improper integrals
• 5. Identify types of conics (parabolas, ellipses, hyperbolas) and
determine their equations
• 6. Write parametric equations of conic sections
• 7. Develop a basic understanding of two- and three-dimensional vectors,
the geometry of the plane and space.
• 8. Find the dot and cross products of vectors, and solve problems
involving equations of lines and planes in space
• 9. Find derivatives and integrals of vector functions and represent space
curves using vector functions.

IX. COURSE POLICIES

Attendance
For undergraduate courses:
Students who miss more than one-fifth of the sessions of any course prior to the withdrawal
deadline can be withdrawn from the course by the instructor.
Math Tutoring Center
The center is open Monday - Thursday 2pm-5pm in Bliss 206.
Tutors are graduate students and/or students who recently aced the course.
It is free of charge. NO appointment is needed.

Credit Hour Policy

This course follows AUB Credit Hour Policy for 3 credit courses. This course meets three times weekly
for MWF Classes The course also includes recitation for one academic hour per week.”

o Final Examinations:
Please note that students are expected to be on-campus and available to take a final examination
for any of their courses at anytime during the final examination period. For the current term, the
final examination period runs between December 3 2024 and December 14 2024 Students and
professors will be notified of the final examination schedule being posted on the Office of the
Registrar website as soon as feasible after the change of schedule period (drop and add).
