16) a) XYZ industries is a manufacturing company with line and staff


organization. Vallarasu, a young staff officer developed a plan of increasing the
life of certain equipment’s in the plant. He look the plan directly to the foreman
of the department but was rebuffed by the supervisor who privately
acknowledged the merit of the plan but resented the staff officer trying to show
off his talents. The staff Officer’s Association condemned the behaviour of
Vallarasu that he should have allowed the plan to appear as a contribution of the
staff group rather than his own.

(i) Analyze the situation in terms of the possible causes of the


reaction of the supervisor and staff officer’s group. (8)
(ii) Suggest a measure to diffuse the situations. (7)

16) a) Priya is class twelth commerce student in a reputed school in Punjab.


Deepa is her elder sister who is doing her Masters in Hospital Administration
from Delhi after completing her B.Sc. course. During vacations when Deepa
comes home, Priya shows him the business studies project that she is preparing
on the topic ‘Principles of Management’. Deepa tells him that these principles
are also a part of MBA course curriculum at the beginner’s level as they from
the core of management in practice. But she finds these principles different
from those of pure science.

(i) Outline the concept of principles of management. (5)


(ii) Why does Deepa find the principles of management different
from those of pure science? (5)
(iii) Why do the principles of management from the core of
management in Practice? Explain by giving any two points
