A. Given the following classroom situations, think of a solution that will help you as a teacher to
understand better your students and how affective targets will help you improve the situation if not
totally solve the problem. Discuss your answers with your classmates.

1. Carlos is an intelligent kid but never makes it to the top ten of his class because of his attitude
towards some of his teachers.

Answer: Ask Carlo if he has a problem and why his attitude towards teachers is not good and by
knowing the problem i will understand Carlo because as a teacher we should know our student well. I
will advice to him be a good student to his teachers and be a better student so that he can be at the top.

2. Angel is a consistent honor student since grade school and active too in extra- curricular activities.
Then, all of a sudden, in high school she became an average performing student. It resulted when she
found out that there was favoritism. Grades were adjusted in order for some of her classmates not to be
disqualified in being part of the top section (due to technicalities of grade requirement).

Answer: As a teacher we must have no favouritism within the class, we must think equally for student
because having a favouritism we no longer see who really excel and studies hard just to get a high
grades.

B. Given the classroom situation, analyze and identify what characteristics of classroom environment
is/are present in the situation. Propose what action(s) must be done to improve the situation. Discuss
your answers and give your comments and suggestions to what you and your classmates will share
during discussion. Use the template provided.

discussion follows after this activity to share and solicit additional comments and suggestions from your
classmates. Use the template provided for your answer.

Situation:

The school, being sectarian, wants to ensure that their graduates will embody the character traits that
are expected of their graduates. As such, the president gave an instruction that religion must be
integrated in all the subjects and not just during religion class.

As a teacher, what and how will you support this direction of the school president so that it will be
realized, focusing on the affective domain of the students?

Why is affective target important?

As a teacher, Affective target are important because we can easily understand student in their situation and when
we understand a student's s situation we also know how to deal with him/her.

What problems can I anticipate in setting affective targets?

It's challenging to build a affective targets for all students because students have their own different skills and
perspective in life so as a teacher you mush consider your students feelings and reaction to the target.

How will the students benefit?

It allows students to express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, enhancing their interest in the subject and it
helps teacher to meet their needs.

C. Summary

Affective Targets aims in education to promote cognitive development, emotional intelligence, empathy, values-
driven decision making, and intrinsic motivation, aiming to create well-rounded, life long learners and responsible
citizens through values-driven learning.
