● Colors/ Description
The flag of Equatorial Guinea has the colors blue, green, white, and red. There are three
stripes. The first one green, middle one white, and the last one red. It also has a blue
triangle at the hoist. Lastly, there is a tree in the middle of the white stripe, it has 6 stars
above it.

● Meaning/ Representation
The green stripe symbolizes the jungles, agriculture, and natural resources of the country.
The red stripe on the flag symbolizes the blood shed from the fighters of the country for
independence. The blue triangle represents the sea, which is the connection between the
islands and the main country. Lastly, the white stripe represents peace.

of Rio Muni, (the mainland) and 5 volcanic offshore islands.

Local Food & Cuisine
Common foods in Equatorial Guinea are fish
and chicken. Spices and chillies are also very
popular. The ingredients that are key in the
Equatoguinean cuisine are the plants and
animals that are local there. Sweet potato,
yam, breadfruit, cassava, cocoyam, snails,
and groundnuts are a few well used
ingredients.

Succotash is the national dish of Equatorial


Guinea. It is eaten all around the country. It’s
simplicity is one of the reasons why it is
widely eaten. The Succotash is a mixture of
corn, lima beans, and tomatoes.

The most played sport in Equatorial Guinea is football.
Football was introduced to Equatorial Guinea during the
Spanish colonialism.

dancing. Balélé is the national dance of Equatorial
Guinea. The Balélé is a type of Bubi dance that is usually
performed on holidays. The Balélé is a dance is done in
Bioko Island.
Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo - Teodoro Obiang is the
president of Equatorial Guinea. He has been serving since 1979.
He was a former military officer, and was elected as the 2nd
president of Equatorial Guinea. He is currently 79 years old.

famous, former football player. He played has a striker.

Emilio Buale Coka - Emilio Buale Coka is a famous actor in


Equatorial Guinea. She is a Guinean - Spanish actor who is from of
the Bubi descendant.
Famous William Barleycorn - William Barleycorn is a famous author in
People Equatorial Guinea. He went to Fernando Po in Africa as a Primitive
Methodist missionary in the early 1800s. After he went there, he
traveled to Edinburgh University.
