Week 11 Assignment - Group 3

The document outlines Assignment 11 focused on sampling methods for a research project on FOMO among junior students at FOFL. The objectives include determining the prevalence, identifying causes, and describing levels of FOMO. Proposed sampling methods include stratified random sampling, with alternatives of simple random sampling and convenience sampling, targeting a sample size of 80-100 students.

Week 11: Assignment 11 – Sampling methods

Work in your group and decide the sampling methods and samples of your research.

Template for the assignment 11

Group number:

Group members:

Research topic (confirmed): FOMO among junior students at FOFL

Objectives (confirmed):

 To determine the prevalence of FOMO among third-year students at FOFL.

 To identify the causes of FOMO among third-year students at FOFL, especially focusing on the
impact of social media, peer pressure and intense competitiveness.

 To describe different levels of FOMO experienced by third-year students at FOFL (mild,

moderate, severe).

Sampling methods

- Stratified random sampling: ensures representation across different majors and classes (FL1,
FL2). This increases the representativeness of our sample while minimizing sampling bias.
- Alternative options (if stratified is difficult to implement):

 Simple Random Sampling: Draw a random sample from all third-year students, regardless of
class or major.

 Convenience Sampling: Use readily available students, such as classmates. This is easier but less
reliable in terms of generalization.

+ Sample Size: 80–100 students

+ Steps:
1. Obtain a student list: Get a list of all third-year students at FOFL.
2. Stratify (if chosen): Divide by majors or classes.
3. Randomize: Use a random number generator or draw lots to select students from each
group.
4. Distribute survey/interview: Send out your questionnaire (via Google Forms)
