As a secretary of the student union at ZCAS university, you have been asked by the chair person
to prepare the agenda for the next meeting . In the conversation with the chair person she said:

The meeting is next Friday 15th May 2021, place ZCAS campus, Mwanawasa building room
115/116, time, one hour starting at 13:00hours. This time we need to have a discussion on
access to our Resource centre and queens when getting student identity cards. They are
becoming very frustrating. There is also the matter of student accommodation to be resolved .
The provision is quite inadequate so we need some more urgently. Our entertainment chair
person should be able to give us a report on the entertainment show recently held for charit..
Wasn’t it a great night? The student common room is desperately in need of decorating so we
must what should be done and nominate someone to take charge. Apart from the usual items
that’s about all.

You work for ZED Kings group of companies as assistant director- communications
department. On Monday, during the briefing chaired by the CEO, you were briefed that
the organisation information repository was hacked by foreign intruders. Here is the near
Verbatim Transcript of the briefing by the CEO: “Good morning and thanks for coming
along today. I'd like to update you on a couple of issues affecting our organisation as well as
share our thoughts on the way forward about what has unfolded over the past few days. I will
answer, as usual, any questions that you may have. I want to take a moment to inform you that
our company is a victim of a highly sophisticated cyberattack. It came to our attention two
days ago when the IT team discovered that the information system was hacked and this could
disrupt the operations of our organization. In order to get in depth information and to protect
our company we immediately reported the matter to law enforcement agencies – Zambia
police, Drug enforcement and Anti -Corruption commission who are already on the ground to
help us with investigations.

As an organisation, we are working closely with the IT technical team and Law
enforcement agencies. To better understand the impact on our organisation, here is what
we have done and discovered:

Once we established that the organisation is a victim of sophisticated attack, we


immediately reported to the Law enforcement officials

The organisation immediately began a forensic IT investigation to determine the number


of affected departments and to identify the type of information accessed. As of
yesterday, the forensic team revealed that, our employees information system is hacked
and on the other hand our client’s information system is intact. The investigation is still
taking place

The organisation’s information security system has worked to eliminate any further
vulnerability and continues to secure all its data

The IT team has advised us that there is no indication at this time that any of our client’s
personal information has been misused.
Apart from that, during this period, all impacted departments will be enrolled in the
identity repair services to protect further vulnerability.

Our clients will be informed about this development and provided with information on
how to access information or services.

As a protective measure, with effect from now we are suspending the operations of our
company for two days to pave way for forensic investigations and employees are
expected to work from home.

As an organisation, we should all work as a team as we are continuing to work with the
Law enforcement officials to conclude the investigation and better understand the cyber
attack as well as its impact on the operations. Our IT team will continue to work tirelessly
to repair the system and prevent further attack from outside intruders. I will end here, and
I am happy to take any questions from you that you may have”
