Advantages of Using Phones in Classrooms

Phones have become a main part of modern life (school life) transforming the way people access
information and interact with the world. Although phones are viewed as a distraction in the
classroom, I think that when used properly they can have a lot of use. I want to examine here
how bringing a phone to class can improve communication and help with learning. When used
properly phones are effective and can improve educational experience in general, phones
enhance educational experience by providing easy access to improving communication and
collaboration for group projects, safe and effective technology use.

Mobile phones have the power to change the educational world, according to the sources
students can instantly access a variety of educational resources using mobile technology, which
can be especially helpful for self-paced learning (people going at their own pace) and research. A
2013 UNESCO report states that mobile devices include cellphones and other portable
technologies that are being included into the educational process more and more. Phones provide
an engaging learning environment by enabling students to access and interact with online
materials. Children have been raised surrounded by digital technology, which puts them in a
position to use mobile devices as vital teaching aids that enhance learning experiences in general
(Marc, 2001).

The general thoughts towards phones being harmful in the classroom can be countered by
focusing on appropriate use. Teachers and students have positive opinions about the usage of
phones in the classroom if they are used correctly. Technology supports student creativity and
skill development when used correctly; appropriate supervision and training can help minimize
distractions and maximize students potential because they can use mobile devices to manage
their education and access information at their own speed (Saxena, 2013). Bringing mobile
technology into the classroom can boost student engagement and performance, illustrating the
potential benefits of smartphone use for learning outcomes (Kunzler, 2011).

Many useful apps are available for phones including those that allow file sharing and sending
messages without making sound, which can improve interaction and teamwork in the classroom.
Phones encourage learning by encouraging students to participate more in debates and projects
(Nishizaki, 2015) Using phones to give assignments to students and give feedback easily is good
for teachers as well (Alberta, 2011). Additionally, phones allow involvement outside of class

hours because everyone uses their phone, by closing the gap between formal and informal
learning (Mango, 2015). Students can join in on tasks and improve their communication skills by
using mobile apps (Shuler, 2009).

Cellphones can greatly improve learning in the classroom by enabling communication (allowing
simple access to information) and promoting student participation. Even though they are usually
seen as distractions it is evident that they could enhance learning results, especially when
carefully included in teaching methods. Smartphones also help students get ready for the needs
of jobs by encouraging appropriate technology use. A more exciting and effective learning
environment can result from the usage of cellphones in the classroom with the right direction and
assistance.
