Uy, Charles A. Assignment 6

TW31 Mr. Jabez Mendoza

What are the three types of data analysis? Cite two example scenarios where
each type is best suited.
Descriptive analysis involves summarizing and interpreting data to gain insights into
patterns, trends, and characteristics of a dataset. It focuses on describing what has
happened and identifying key features of the data.

• Customer Satisfaction Analysis: Analyzing survey data to understand customer

satisfaction. By summarizing responses and identifying trends, businesses can
improve satisfaction levels.
• Social Media Sentiment Analysis: Analyzing social media data to determine
sentiment towards a brand, product, or event. By categorizing posts as positive,
negative, or neutral, businesses can track sentiment, identify key topics, and
manage brand reputation.

Quantitative data analysis involves examining numerical data to uncover patterns,

relationships, and trends. It focuses on analyzing and interpreting numerical information
using statistical methods and tools.

• Sales Forecasting: Assists businesses in making informed decisions regarding

production, inventory, and marketing strategies by utilizing past sales data and
market trends to predict future sales.
• Product Testing and Optimization: By conducting experiments and analyzing data,
businesses can utilize quantitative data analysis to test and enhance products.
This process enables them to identify superior product variations or features and
make informed decisions to improve the overall quality of their products.
Statistical analysis involves applying statistical techniques and methods to analyze
data, identify patterns, relationships, and make inferences or predictions based on the
data.

• Quality Control: By analyzing data on defects, variations, or performance metrics,

businesses can identify areas for improvement, assess the impact of process
changes, and make informed decisions to enhance product quality and efficiency.
• Mortality Rate Analysis: Analyzing death records and population data helps identify
trends and compare mortality rates across groups, aiding policymakers in
understanding the impact of diseases and allocating resources effectively.
