GENERAL
All glass prism reflectors cause a refraction of the laser beam in the body glass. This results in a lag of the path of the laser beam. The ADM
Offset Compensation for Custom Reflectors routine verifies this additional path of the ADM beam. The ADM Offset can either be manually
entered or determined by the ADM Offset Compensation process.
The custom reflector must be selected and locked to be able to start the compensation process.
COMPENSATION PROCEDURE
ADM Offset Compensation measurements consist of the following 3-step process:
1. Measurement of two fixed points, at the height of tilting axis of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 from the middle of
the two points.
2. Measurement of the same two fixed points, at the height of tilting axis of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 from the

GENERAL
The Quick Tip Compensation process is a reduced Tip compensation process. It allows the user to perform a Tip compensation under the
following situations where it is not possible to perform the standard tip compensation process:
1. Availability of a reflector. The standard tip compensation procedure requires the usage of a reflector in three of the wizard steps. If the
user has no reflector or it is damaged the standard procedure cannot be fulfilled.
2. Availability of the Tip compensation tool. The standard tip compensation procedure requires the usage of the tip compensation tool
whereas the Quick Tip Compensation allows the user to use his own cone.
3. Cranked stylus with the stylus is pointing in +z direction. Currently the user does not have a possibility to compensate a cranked stylus
if the stylus is pointing in +z direction. As no reflector measurements are needed, it is possible to compensate this type of stylus with
the Quick Tip Compensation routine.
This Tip Compensation routine is only available for Leica T-Probes and for Fix tips.

Every reflector, 6DoF device face or tip compensation (real tip or a virtual tip) can have a SetupID.
As the serial number or the tip number is not communicated by the Realtime interface the user has the
possibility to detect what target is locked on the tracker by using the SetupID. The table that contains the
SetupIDs can be exported as csv file and can be deleted with the appropriate buttons. The SetupIDs can
also be used to activate a selectable target over the appropriate EtherCAT command interface.
Item Description
Optional field that can be used to add a Name to the RealTime Module Settings.
Optional field that can be used to add a Comment to the RealTime Module Settings.
If this check box is TRUE, the RealTime bus has full tracker control. This means that LMF
connections to the tracker are blocked when the EtherCAT bus has reached its operational state.
The user can choose between Cyclic, Mixed and ExtTrigger modes:
• Cyclic mode should be used if the RTFP-EC is run in Freerun mode or in Sync0 mode.
The cyclic data stream will be activated when using this profile.
• Mixed mode extends the cyclic mode by the activation of the external trigger input of the
tracker controller. Additionally, to the cyclic data stream, the tracker will also take
measurements if they are triggered by an external trigger signal (e.g. when using a Leica
T-Mac inspect with a touch trigger tip). The necessary trigger settings can be set and will
be activated as soon as the EtherCAT bus changes its state to operational. The number
of cycles filed can be used to define how many bus cycles the result of the external trigger
measurement will be kept in the output data stream.
• ExtTrigger mode should be used if the user likes to use a data stream which is triggered
by an external signal instead of Freerun or Sync0. The according trigger settings can be
set and will be activated as soon as the real-time bus changes its state to operational.

Field Checks have a priori tolerance extension that has an influence on the highlighting threshold for various tolerances and MPE values.
A tolerance acceptance level of 100% conforms manufactures specifications in a stable environment. Therefore, sensor checks, and
compensations have a fixed tolerance value of 100%.
A field check tests achievable accuracy under real world conditions and environment. Consequently, the field check acceptance level is 150%
per default and can be adjusted.
Item Description

AUTOMATIC
GENERAL
The Automatic connection is the default factory setting of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 system.
In Automatic mode the LAN board in the AT Controller Rev 2.0 or higher can act in two ways:
1. Auto Client: When connecting to a DHCP network the LAN board recognizes this and switches its mode to DHCP client accordingly to
avoid network collisions.
2. Auto Server: In case a client computer (PC or Laptop) is connected to the AT Controller Rev 2.0 or higher Network port, the internal
DHCP server delivers an IP address to it. This simplifies the connection to the Laser Tracker extremely since no IP address settings on
the client side are required. The default IP Address in Server Mode is 192.168.0.1
The automatic mode is first a DHCP Client (Auto Client) and after a few seconds if no IP Address is received it switches to DHCP Server
(Auto Server).
Contact your system administrator to avoid network collisions if you use this connection mode in a network
The touch screen of the AT Controller Rev. 2.0 or higher will fist show Auto Client. If the AT Controller Rev. 2.0 or higher is connected to a

the best possible quality. Quick temperature changes, frequent movement of the product, shock or stress can cause deviations and a
decrease of the measurement accuracy.
This can be done on-site by running through specific check or compensation measurements. If checks do not provide satisfying results
repeatedly, a compensation of the product is recommended.
This chapter contains general information about the user guidance of check and compensation wizards.
Before a check or compensation wizard can be started the system needs to be initialized.
PROCESS
All wizards consist of a 2-step process:
• Measurement process
• Report process
Therefore, all wizard pages share the same layout. On the first page of the wizard all measurements are taken, whereas on the second page
the measurement results can be analysed and printed or archived as required.
Some wizards include an initial Settings page. These wizards are the Scale Bar Check and Compensate Tip for a Fix Tip.
GUIDANCE
SKETCHES
Dynamic sketches will guide the user through the process.
The sketches are contained on the Guide window. They are provided for every check and compensation wizard.
The sketches contain a top view and a side view to the measurement scene guiding the user to the position when required. The current
position of the locked target and the target positions for the measurement will be updated dynamically through the whole measurement
process. The current beam direction is represented by a coloured line which reflects the current state shown in the DRO window.
Icon Description
Grey dot with black contour: Nominal Position. Measurement of the required target position is missing.
Red dot with black contour: Position of the measured target exceeds the tolerance of the nominal target
position.
Translucent dot with black contour: Position of the measured target is not coincident with the nominal position
but is within tolerance.
The size of the dot is generalized and does equal with the size of the tolerance zone of the nominal position.
The nominal position is kept when the DRO guidance remains green and does not change to red or blue.
TOOL TIPS
Dynamic tool tips provide additional information on the nominal position when required, measurements and accuracy information related to
the measurements.
Tool tips are displayed by placing the mouse over the measurement position on the sketch window.
Different information is shown on the tool tip depending on if the measurement has been performed or not.

Report page, the report will be updated dynamically.
MEASUREMENT TABLE
GENERAL
Measurements taken with Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 are listed in the Measurements table on the bottom half of the screen.
Icon Description
Click on the point ID to open a pop-up window showing details about the selected measurement record.
Move the mouse over individual measurement values to display a tool tip with the measurement value
and tolerance used where applicable.
U95 (Expanded uncertainty k=2) exceeded.
A high U95 value is indicating unstable measurement conditions. It provides information to the user
but does not have an influence on the acceptance criteria of checks and compensations.
For sensor checks and compensations the U95 value is set and invariant. A field check has a U95
value expanded by the defined tolerance extension.
The data displayed on the measurement table is variable and depends on the wizard and on the target type selected to perform
the wizard.
AUTO RE-MEASURE
Measured targets that exceed the U95 tolerance by factor 2 are detected as blunder and re-measured up to three times automatically.
Only measurements that do not exceed the U95 tolerance by factor 2 will be introduced in the measurement table.
If a measurement is re-measured three times and still exceeds the U95 tolerance by factor 2 the measurement will not be included
on the measurement table.
GENERAL
A check and compensation has one or several acceptance criteria that need to be fulfilled to complete the corresponding procedure success-
fully. The acceptance criteria for sensor checks and compensations are fixed and only for field checks can be adjusted by changing the
tolerance level.
Symbol Description
Acceptance criteria is fulfilled.
Acceptance criteria is not fulfilled.
U95
The Expanded Uncertainty U95 (k=2) value describes the confidence level of 95% (k=2). This means when measuring the same position, a
hundred times, ninety-five measurements will be below the displayed U95 value. In the remaining five cases the U95 will be exceeded.
An increased U95 value due to variance is expected when measuring under unstable conditions (air turbulence, vibrations etc.).
3D DEVIATION
The 3D deviation describes the spatial divergence between an actual and corresponding nominal position.
For each 3D deviation a tolerance is set and reported to the user when exceeded.
For highest possible accuracy 3D deviations maintaining the tolerance level according the specific check and compensation procedure are
desired.
STATUS BAR
The following controls are available in all wizards to display settings or measurement parameters. The settings cannot be changed inside the
wizard:

REPORTING
GENERAL
For each executed check or compensation, a pdf report is created and stored automatically.
REPORT PAGE
The report shows detailed information about the check and compensation.
The remark section in the report is only shown if there are additional hints to point out to the user such as a high deviation between two face
checks or an unstable environment. If everything is fine there will be no remark section in the report.
REPORT CONTENT
Pdf reports consist of a generic structure that is complemented for each check and compensation individually.
Information • Name
• Comment
• Environment [unstable]
• Rotation coverage
The remarks section shows additional information to the user. i.e. in case of a Probe Check
Remarks the Probe Check can be passed but there can be a remark indicating to perform a new axes
compensation (if two face measurements are bad) or a new 6D camera compensation.
Only the convenient remarks will be shown. If everything is OK, there will be no remarks
section displayed in the report.
• Measurements
• Product Name
Tracker
• Serial Number
• Compensation
• Software Version
• Temperature
Meteo Data (auto / • Humidity

POP-UP MESSAGES
GENERAL
Warning or error messages are shown to the user in a pop-up window in case of an exception. All warning and error messages display a
number, a warning or error text of a recommended solution.
Item Description
The achievable accuracy under given working conditions depends not exclusively on the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 system
performance.
Factor Example
• floor stability
• target stability
Environmental conditions
• temperature gradient
• etc.
• target quality
• tripod stability
Hardware accessories
• use of external temperature sensor
• etc.
• user settings
• etc.
A field check enables the user to check the achievable accuracy considering current conditions as well as external influences with
user-specific settings of a preferred workflow.
A field check is therefore an overall check. To check only the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 system performance a sensor
check is required.
Refer to “Sensor Check” on page 160 for details on checking the Leica Absolute Tracker.
APPLICATION
In the following cases a field check should be performed:
• When wanting to know if the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 can achieve de desired accuracy in each environment.
A Field Check can be performed under any working conditions not having to satisfy any prerequisites. The user can use any measurement
profile, any target and is free to choose the measurement locations.
By default, the Field Check Acceptance level is set to 150% of the Leica Absolute Trackers AT930/AT960 specifications. The
tolerance extension can be modified and determined by an Advanced user.

• Nominal Length [mm]
OBJECT TEMPERATURE
The Scale Bar Check is based upon the comparison between the nominal length of a calibrated Scale Bar with the length determined by two
measurements from the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960. The nominal length of the Scale Bar is dependent on the intrinsic temperature
known as object temperature. The usage of the current object temperature is recommended for the Scale Bar Check.
Scale bar definitions are stored automatically in a CSV data table file (*.csv-File) on the application computer at the following location:
Item Description
A default name for the scale bar will be proposed. The name can be edited by the user.
Multiple scale bars with the same name cannot be created. In this case the Tracker Pilot
proposes a new name, i.e. SB (1).
Return to the main page of Scale Bar page without applying any changes.
A Tip Check can only be performed with a Probe which has a real tip. Consequently, the Tip Check can only be performed with a Leica T-
Probe or a Leica T-Mac selected as active Probe with a mounted tip that has compensation values.
If the mounted tip has not been compensated there will be an impediment “Tip Compensation missing” avoid the user to enter the Tip Check
wizard.
The Tip Check procedure varies depending on the Tip selected to perform the check. It can be performed with a Fix Tip or with a Touch
Trigger Tip.
Refer to “Compensate Tip with a fix tip” on page 64 for details on how to perform a Tip Check with a Fix Tip and refer to “Compensate
Tip with Touch Trigger Tip” on page 71 for details on how to perform a Tip Check with a Touch Trigger Tip.
GENERAL
The Tip Check procedure varies depending on the Tip selected to perform the check.
Fix Tips are used with Leica T-Probe and with Leica T-Mac.
• Measurement of multiple points, at least three, on the cone of the calibration tool.
It is recommended to make 7 measurements to cover all the range of the roll, pitch and yaw angles.
RECOMMENDED SETUP
The Tip Check allows to test the performance of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT960 in respect to individual expectations on an application
under real-world conditions and desired settings. Consequently, the Tip Check setup is free and can be chosen individually.
The minimum measurement range of a Probe is 1.5 meters. As a result, the Probe must be placed at a distance > 1.5 meters to
perform the Tip Check. Maximum measurement range depends on the tracker type.

Quick temperature changes, frequent movement of the product, shock or stress can cause deviations and a decrease of the measurement
accuracy.
During the manufacturing process the product parameters are carefully determined.
A sensor check allows to test if the manufactures specifications are complied with the current active Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960
parameter.
A sensor check is a guided process and required system settings are preset.
APPLICATION
A sensor check should be performed when a field check is reported as “Not OK” although the external influences decreasing the measurement
precision are minimized.
Refer to “General” on page 147 for details on factors decreasing the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 performance.
Before starting to work the product must become warmed up and acclimatized to the ambient temperature, especially if the product
has been stored under different temperature conditions. Ensure enough acclimatization to the environment before taking precision
measurements.
The systems need to be initialized before a sensor check wizard can be started.
The usage of a Leica RRR1.5" is required for 3D Sensor Checks and the usage of Leica T-Probe is required for 6D Sensor Checks.
BEST PRACTICE
To achieve the highest possible accuracy, the following steps are recommended:
• Set up the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 on a stable ground free of vibrations.
• Check accuracy and stability of accessories i.e. tripod, reflector holders etc.
• Environmental parameters should remain constant during the Sensor Check process.
• The Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 needs to be warmed up before starting the Sensor Check.
• Ensure the optical elements like the cover glass of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 are cleaned on a regular basis as they
are sensitive towards moisture and dirt which can result in loss of accuracy.

AXES CHECK
GENERAL
The Axes Check verifies the angular measurement performance of the system and determines if an Axes Compensation is required to
achieve optimal measurement accuracy.
CHECK PROCEDURE
Axes Check measurements consist of the following 1-step process:
1. Measurement of eight points at a given distance. Four at a steep angle and four at the height of tilting axis of the Leica Absolute
Tracker AT930/AT960.
SPACE REQUIREMENT
The space requirement for the Axes Check depends on the tracker type:
• For AT930, AT960 MR, AT960 LR and AT960 XR the required room space for the Axes Check is 11 meters with a minimum room
height of 2 meter.
• For AT960 SR the required room space for the Axes Check is 6 meters with a minimum room height of 2 meter.
REQUIRED SETUP
The Axes Check can be performed by two independent setups according to the initial reflector position in relation to the Leica Absolute
Tracker AT930/AT960 tilting axis.
The setup for the Axes Check shown in the image corresponds to an AT930/AT960 (MR, LR and XR) with reflector position below tilting axis:
The setup for the Axes Check shown in the image corresponds to an AT960 SR with reflector position below tilting axis:
The setup for the Axes Check shown in the image corresponds to an AT930/AT960 (MR, LR and XR) with reflector position above tilting axis:
The setup for the Axes Check shown in the image corresponds to an AT960 SR with reflector position above tilting axis:
Flip between the above two setups by moving the reflector along the stand axis of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 up or
down before taking the first measurement.
For points 1 to 4 ensure that the vertical angle coverage is enough. The distance to point 1 to 4 is not important. It is important to
measure point 1 with the highest possible vertical angle as shown by the user guidance. To get an even bigger vertical angle
coverage adding points with vertical angle coverage less than 90° is possible and can improve the quality of the calibration
Procedure
For points 5 to 8 ensure that the distance range used is enough. further measurements can be added to get an even higher distance
range.
However, the higher measurement uncertainty of far measurements will fail the benefit of the higher distance range.
In case the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 is placed regular or mounted upside down the horizontal angles are irrelevant.
The recommended setup of an Axes Check requires the usage of two tripods. As an alternative the Leica Absolute Tracker
AT930/AT960 can be placed directly on the ground floor sitting on the Quick release which is fixed onto a mount. In this case follow
the user guidance of the second setup described for reflector positions above tilting axis.
Those reflector positions on the ground at Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 transit axis height can be performed by placing
the reflector sitting in a reflector on the ground. The reflector positions above Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 should be
performed with a reflector mounted on a tripod.

1. Setup the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 system according to the setup sketch
shown above.
6. Move the reflector to the first point to measure. The DRO window and the sketch
provide guidance to find the correct position.
8. Repeat steps 6. & 7. for all other positions. Additional points can be added if required.
10. Navigate to the Report page when all measurements are taken.
11. The Axes Check is marked as "OK" or "Not OK" depending on the measurement
results. Click on the Show Report icon to view detailed results of the Axes Check.

Refer to “Compensate” on page 164 for details on how to set the performed Axes
Check as new Axes Compensation.
COMPENSATE
The measurements of an Axes Check can be directly used to perform an Axes Compensation. A Sensor Check reported as “Not OK” might
indicate the need of an Axes Compensation.
After clicking the previous icon the user is guided to the Axes Compensation measurements page. The 3D deviation increases automatically
compared to the former measurement table presented in the Sensor Checks procedure. This is caused because in the Sensor Checks
procedure corrected values are displayed in the measurement table but in the Compensation procedure raw values are displayed.
Refer to “Axes Compensation” on page 178 for details on the Axes Compensation procedure.
Optionally analyze measurement details in the measurements table, delete or repeat measurements accordingly.
Navigate to the Report page when the acceptance criteria for Axes Compensation is achieved:
When pressing Compensate the wizard changes from Axes Check to Axes Compensation.
The Compensation parameters will be stored on the system and the PDF Report will be generated.

GENERAL
The ADM Offset Check verifies if the zero distance for the ADM matches the origin of the Tracker coordinate system and determines if an
ADM Offset Compensation will be necessary.
ADM Offset Check must be performed with Leica 1.5" RRR reflector.
CHECK PROCEDURE
ADM Offset Check measurements consist of the following 3-step process:
1. Measurement of two fixed points, at the height of tilting axis of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 from the middle of the two
points.
2. Measurement of the same two fixed points, at the height of tilting axis of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 from the outside of
the two points.
3. Measurement of the same two fixed points, at the height of tilting axis of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 from the middle of
the two points as in step 1.
Move the sensor between step 1 to 3. Do not move the reflector positions.
SPACE REQUIREMENT
The required room space for the ADM Offset Check is 6 meters. Minimum room height is 2 meters.
RECOMMENDED SETUP
The recommended setup for the ADM Offset Check is shown below:
Horizontal Angle
Station Point ID Vertical Angle [m] Distance [m]
[deg]
Inside 1 1 ~0 90 2.0
2 ~ 180 90 2.0
Outside 1 ~0 90 2.0
2 ~0 90 6.0
Inside 2 1 ~0 90 2.0
2 ~ 180 90 6.0
The recommended setup of an ADM Offset Check requires the usage of three tripods. As an alternative the Leica Absolute Tracker
AT930/AT960 can be placed directly on the ground floor mounted on the Quick release with pins on its bottom side to ensure a 3-
point stand or fixed onto a mount. The reflector positions need to be approximately at the same height as the transit axis of the
Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960. The reflector positions are not allowed to move during the procedure. This is assured by
using fixed reflector holders mounted on the ground or a wall. The conditions of a correct setup are identical with the original
recommended setup. Keep in mind that the angle criteria of ± 5° cannot be kept when measuring points on the wall.
The ADM Offset Check allows to measure more than three stations. An additional station is only completed when repeating the
measurement point with ID1 and ID2.
The distance between the points is not critical. However, it is highly recommended to place the Leica Absolute Tracker
AT930/AT960 as best as possible in line with the reflector positions to eliminate effects from a possible bad axes compensation.

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
The following report statements are possible:
Symbol Description
The deviation of new and active ADM Offset is ≤ 5 um, and the Expanded uncertainty (k=2) of adjusted
parameter is maintained.
The deviation of new and active ADM Offset is > 5 um, or the Expanded uncertainty (k=2) of adjusted
parameter is exceeded.
PROBE CHECK
GENERAL
The Probe Check verifies if the Probe is good.
1. A LED integrity check to verify that none of the LEDs are damaged of shifted due to a shock. This requires two probe measurements.
2. An in-depth check of probe measurements by comparison to reflector measurements. This requires a probe measurement and one or
more reflector measurements in each of the steps. The spatial relation between probe and reflector positions must be the same for each
step. A probe compensation frame or reflector nests can be used for this purpose. Alternatively, the tracker can be moved between the
steps keeping the probe and the reflector on the same position. When working with a single reflector only one reflector position can be
measured in each wizard step and therefore it is recommended to repeat the Probe Check with a different reflector position.
Probe Check must be performed with any 6D device i.e. Leica T-Probe, Leica T-Scan, Leica T-Mac or AP21.
Refer to “Compensation Import Procedure” on page 89 for details on how to import the Compensation file.
CHECK PROCEDURE
Probe Check measurements consist of the following 2-step process:
2. Movement of the tracker and re-measurement of the 6D device and one reflector measurement keeping the spatial relation between
probe and reflector positions.
SPACE REQUIREMENT
The required room space for the Probe Check is 3 meters. Minimum room height is 2 meters.

GENERAL
The Quick Probe Check is used for a LED integrity check to verify that none of the LEDs are damaged of shifted due to a shock. This requires
two probe measurements.
The Quick Probe Check is the same as the LED Resection Check used in AT901.
The Quick Probe Check can be carried out with any 6D device i.e. Leica T-Probe, Leica T-Scan, Leica T-Mac or AP21 and requires
the imported Probe Compensation file (.emsys or .Probes).
Refer to “Compensation Import Procedure” on page 89 for details on how to import the Compensation file.
SPACE REQUIREMENT
The required room space for the Probe Check is 3 meters. Minimum room height is 2 meters.

APPLICATION
If sensor check does not provide satisfying results repeatedly, a compensation of the product is recommended.
A compensation allows to refresh and adjust Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 parameter changes.
Before starting to work the product must become warmed up and acclimatized to the ambient temperature, especially if the product
has been stored under different temperature conditions. Ensure enough acclimatization to the environment before taking precision
measurements. To achieve the highest possible accuracy level a warmup time of two hours is strongly recommended before
starting a compensation or a high precision measurement job.
BEST PRACTICE
To achieve the highest possible accuracy, the following steps are recommended:
• Set up the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 on a stable ground free of vibrations.
• Check accuracy and stability of accessories i.e., tripod, reflector holders etc.
• Wait until the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 is fully warmed up to achieve specified accuracy. The system provides
information of the warmup state.
• Ensure the optical elements like the cover glass of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 are cleaned on a regular basis as they
are sensitive towards moisture and dirt which can result in loss of accuracy.

AXES COMPENSATION
GENERAL
The Axes Compensation routine verifies the system geometry (horizontal and vertical collimation). Large ambient temperature changes may
require performing an Axes Compensation.
COMPENSATION PROCEDURE
Axes Compensation measurements consist of the following 1-step process:
1. Measurement of eight points at a given distance. Four at a steep angle and four at the height of tilting axis of the Leica Absolute Tracker
AT930/AT960.
SPACE REQUIREMENT
The space requirement for the Axes Compensation depends on the tracker type:
• For AT930, AT960 MR, AT960 LR and AT960 XR the required room space for the Axes Compensation is 11 meters with a minimum
room height of 2 meter.
• For AT960 SR the required room space for the Axes Compensation is 6 meters with a minimum room height of 2 meter.
The setup for the Axes Compensation shown in the image corresponds to an AT930/AT960 (MR, LR and XR) with reflector position below
tilting axis:
The setup for the Axes Compensation shown in the image corresponds to an AT960 SR with reflector position below tilting axis:
The setup for the Axes Compensation shown in the image corresponds to an AT930/AT960 (MR, LR and XR) with reflector position above
tilting axis:
The setup for the Axes Compensation shown in the image corresponds to an AT960 SR with reflector position above tilting axis:
Flip between the above two setups by moving the reflector along the stand axis of the Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 up or
down before taking the first measurement.
For points 1 to 4 ensure that the vertical angle coverage is enough. The distance to point 1 to 4 is not important. It is important to
measure point 1 with the highest possible vertical angle as shown by the user guidance. To get an even bigger vertical angle
coverage adding points with vertical angle coverage less than 90° is possible and can improve the quality of the calibration.
For points 5 to 8 ensure that the distance range used is enough. Further measurements can be added to get an even higher
distance range.
However, the higher measurement uncertainty of far measurements will fail the benefit of the higher distance range.
The recommended setup of an Axes Compensation requires the usage of two tripods. As an alternative the Leica Absolute Tracker
AT930/AT960 can be placed directly on the ground floor sitting on the Quick release which is fixed onto a mount. In this case follow
the user guidance of the second setup described for reflector positions above tilting axis.
The reflector positions on Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 transit axis height can be performed by placing the reflector on
the ground sitting in a reflector holder. The reflector positions above Leica Absolute Tracker AT930/AT960 should be performed
with a reflector mounted on a tripod.

The dimension of uncorrected raw measurements is expected to be higher than corrected measurements.
SCE COMPENSATION
GENERAL
As the SCE Reflector represents a revolutionary new reflection concept completely different to existing corner cube or glass prism reflectors
a Laser Tracker must be prepared specifically for the usage of such a new reflector type.
The SCE Compensation determines Leica Absolute Tracker specific correction parameters to ensure the measurement accuracy over the
full range when using a SCE reflector.
It is an instrument compensation so it can be performed with any SCE reflector and will be valid for all SCE reflectors.
As the SCE Compensation adds correction parameters it is mandatory to have a valid Axes Compensation before starting the SCE
Compensation.
When performing a new Axes Compensation, it is not needed to renew the existing SCE Compensation.
Only supported since System Software 1.3.3 and Tracker Pilot 3.5.3.
When the SCE reflector is added for the first time in the target list and is selected as the active target the SCE Compensation parameters
are shown in the active compensation record and is marked with an exclamation mark. The exclamation mark shows that the SCE
Compensation has not yet been performed.
Having an exclamation mark on the SCE Compensation only states that the SCE Compensation is missing. The compensation is
complete even if this compensation is missing.
If the SCE Compensation is missing measurements are not allowed with the SCE. Perform an SCE Compensation to be able to
measure with the SCE reflector.
When the SCE Compensation is performed the record is completed and the exclamation is gone.
As soon as any another reflector is selected as the active target the SCE compensation parameters on the compensation record are hidden.
No matter if the SCE compensation has been or not performed the parameters are hidden.
2. Replace the SCR reflector for Leica RRR1.5in and measure the same point again.
3. Replace the Leica RRR1.5in reflector for the SCE and measure the same point again.
SPACE REQUIREMENT
The space requirement for the SCE Compensation depends on the tracker type:
• For AT930, AT960 MR, AT960 LR and AT960 XR the required room space for the Axes Compensation is 21 meters with a minimum
room height of 2 meter.
• For AT960 SR the required room space for the Axes Compensation is 7 meters with a minimum room height of 2 meter.
REQUIRED SETUP
The setup for the SCE Compensation with an AT930/AT960 (MR, LR and XR) is shown below:

GENERAL
The ADM Offset Compensation routine verifies if the zero distance for the ADM matches the origin of the Tracker coordinate system. Large
ambient temperature changes may require performing an ADM Offset Compensation.
Perform an ADM Offset Compensation when the ADM Offset Check fails.
Refer to “ADM Offset Check” on page 166 for details on the ADM Offset Check procedure.
COMPENSATION PROCEDURE
ADM Offset Compensation measurements consist of the following 3-step process:
