Task 1: Enter Basic Data in a Worksheet


1. Click cell A1, type GMS Technology Inc., and press Enter. Notice that the active cell moves to the
next row, to cell A2.
2. In cell A2, type Employee List and then press Enter.
3. Click cell A4, type Name, and then press Tab. Notice that the active cell moves to the next column,
to cell B4.
4. Type Extension and then press Enter. Notice that the active cell moves to the first cell in the next
row.
5. Type Michael Pedro and then press Tab.
6. Type 101 and then press Enter. Michael Pedro’s name looks cut off.
7. Click cell A5 and notice that the complete entry for Michael Pedro appears in the formula bar.
8. Click cell A6, type Moujahed Ali, and then press Enter.

It is Master Chen’s 60th Birthday and a celebration is in order. But the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO,
hosts for the party, don’t have a lot of cash. They have given just PHP5,250 for the party from the
Jedi Council. Twelve guests have been invited, including Master Chen. You will use a spreadsheet
to plan the expenses of the party and make adjustments until you meet the PHP 5,250.

1. In Column B you will enter estimate for the quantity of each item you need for the party. Enter
your first formula in D5 cell to calculate the total cost of the dinnerware. Be sure to use cell
formulas and not just the numbers.
2. Do the same formula in the Column D from D5 cell through D14 cell. Remember your formula
should MULTIPLY the given cost of each item by the number of items needed.
3. In Cell D16, type the formula that will give the grand total.
4. Enter the formula to cell B17 to reflect the amount beyond PHP5250 you are spending.
