1.Define Communication.
Ans. Communication is a process of sharing information between two or more people through an
exchange of thoughts, messages, using the medium of speech, visuals, symbols, writing, or
behaviour.
2.What is oral communication?
Ans. Oral communication refers to spoken words being used to convey a message. An effective
oral communication is a two-way process and involves both speaking and listening.
3.Define intrapersonal communication.
Ans. Intrapersonal communication is extremely private. It includes the silent conversations we
have with ourselves. We simultaneously switch roles between a sender and a receiver.
4.How can we have effective written communication
Ans. For effective written communication, we must have a good command over the language in
which we are communicating. We should also avoid any grammatical errors while writing.
5.Write any two functions of verbal communication.
Ans. Two functions of verbal communication:
a. It is through verbal communication and other symbolic activities that relationships are
developed and maintained. Whenever we communicate verbally with another person, a group or
an audience, a relationship is initiated.
b. Without verbal communication, we would not function as thinking beings. We use it to reason,
communicate, and develop our memories through language.
6.Explain Methods of Communication
Ans: Methods include verbal (speaking, writing), non-verbal (gestures, facial expressions), visual
(charts, graphs), and electronic (emails, social media).
7. .Identify the different communication elements.
Ans: Sender, Message, Channel, Receiver, Feedback

Ans: The communication process involves the sender transmitting a message through a channel
to the receiver, who then provides feedback. This cycle continues to ensure the message is
understood.

Ans: Interpersonal (conversations), Group (meetings), Public (speeches), and Mass
communication (news broadcasting).
Advantages: Immediate feedback, personal touch, clarity through tone and pitch.
Disadvantages: Can be misinterpreted, no permanent record, and sometimes less structured.
2. Write common signs used for Visual communication. Explain what each conveys and where did
you see it .Also uses or importance of visual communication
Ans: Examples include traffic signals, road signs, restroom signs, warning signs, and no smoking
signs. These are commonly seen in public spaces like roads, airports, and workplaces.
Visual communication uses images, charts, and symbols to convey messages quickly and
universally.

3. Explain non-verbal communication Its types and uses. How we avoid common mistakes in
non-verbal communication.
Ans: Non-verbal communication includes body language, facial expressions, and gestures, which
help convey emotions and support verbal communication.
Types include facial expressions, gestures, posture, eye contact, and proxemics.
Use non-verbal communication in the right manner at work by Maintain eye contact, use
appropriate gestures, keep an open posture, and be mindful of personal space.
We avoid crossing arms, fidgeting, poor eye contact, and inappropriate facial expressions
during communication.

Verbal Communication:
