QUESTION 1

5.2 A ladder has 50 rungs. The bottom rung is 1m long. Each rung is 12,5mm shorter than the
rung beneath is. Determine the total length of wood required to make 50 rungs. (5)

5.3 The 9th term and the 6th term of a geometric sequence are 80 and 10 respectively.

5.3.1 Find the first term and the constant ratio. (5)

5.3.2 Find the number of terms in this sequence if the last term is 5 120. (4)
