Lab Format Guide 3980

The lab report outlines a simulation exercise focused on controlling a motor starter coil based on sensor inputs from a pressure switch, temperature switch, and a manual pushbutton. It details the program's input and output, logic operations, and includes screenshots of the ladder logic and configuration tables. The results indicate that the motor is activated under specific conditions defined by the logical contacts and input states.

Lab Report #X

MEET 3980, Section X

Lab Date: X/XX/25

Name
Problem #1:

Simulation File: Lab1_P1.rss

Program Summary: State the question, or problem the lab exercise is addressing. What is the
purpose of the program. Define customer requirements.

Program Input: What sensor inputs are used and why?

Program Output: What control output (motors, lights, etc.) are being controlled by the program?

Program Logic: Explain how the program logic works. How does the program accomplish its
objective? Explain the digital logic used.

Program Simulation: A screen shot of the program ladder logic. Clearly explain the
relationship between each rung and its effect on the logic.

Program Results: Screen shots of your program running for various sensor inputs and outputs.

Auxiliary tables and Figures: screen shots of other tables and figures from the software to
document the input and output module configuration and specific logic. For example,

Summary: Summarize results …

The motor starter coil is energized when the pressure switch and temperature switch are both
closed, or when the manual pushbutton is closed. The appropriate output terminals are
energized by using the appropriate logical contacts (XIC or XIO) and input states (open or
closed). The input and output binary numbers are converted to decimal values using the radix
function in the data table menu.
