DEVELOPMENT OF THE POWER SYSTEM

5
 The power system includes the whole process of
power generation, power transmission, and
power distribution.
 the electric energy produced by the power
generation equipment at any time must be equal
to the sum of the electric energy consumed
transmitted and distributed by electric
equipment at that time.
 The balance of supply and demand must be
maintained in real time between power
generation and consumption; otherwise, the
safety and continuity of power consumption will
be endangered.

6
The influence of economy, environment, and technology,
etc. on the development of power systems constantly puts
forward new requirements such as the following:
 Clean and sustainable energy with little
environmental influence
 Availability

 Applicability

 Advancement

 Flexibility and controllability

7
ELECTRIC SYSTEM OPERATION

8
 the power system should meet the requirements
of reliable and continuous power supply in the
operation.
 In order to ensure the safe and stable operation
of the power system, the power system must
meet the following requirements:
 The system should have sufficient reserves of
steady state rotor angle stability and active and
reactive reserve capacities to ensure the
operating stability of power system and keep the
normal frequency and voltage of power grid.

9
 A reasonable power grid structure is the basis of
safe and stable operation of power system.
 Under the normal operation mode (including
scheduled maintenance mode), the fault of any
element (generator, line, transformer and bus) in
the system should not cause the asynchronous
operation of the main system, frequency collapse
and voltage collapse.
 Under the adjusted operation mode after the
accident, the power system should still have the
specified margin of steady state rotor angle
stability and meet the requirements of transient
stability.
10
 There should be predetermined measures to
prevent accidents from deteriorating and to
reduce the accident loss when the stability of the
power system is compromised.
 The single fault of any element (including line,
bus, and transformer, etc.) in a lower level power
grid in any variety should not affect the stable
operation of its upper level power grid.

11
RUNNING STATUS

12
13
 the normal operation:
the system supplies balanced and qualified electric
energy, meets the above requirements for safe
operation with a sufficient reserve, and can realize
the economic operation of the system.
 the warning state:

if the safety of the system is lower than a certain

value due to the change of operation conditions or
fault disturbance, the system will be in the
warning state
14
During this time period, the anti-disturbance
capability of the system will be reduced. It is
necessary to take preventive control measures to
restore the system back to the normal state.
 the emergency state:

In the normal or warning state, when there is a

larger disturbance, the system may be in the
emergency state. The system may be restored to
the warning or normal state after the faulty
elements are removed quickly and effective
emergency control measures are taken.

15
 the crash state:
If the corresponding fault elimination and
emergency control measures cannot be taken
timely and effectively, the system may be
separated by itself, resulting in the whole system
crash and large-area power outage.
 the recovery state:
After system separation or crash, the system can be
in the recovery state when various control
measures are taken to stabilize the system to
restore the power output and power transmission
capacity, so as to restore power supply to users
quickly and smoothly.
