PERIOD OF PLAN: Week ending Friday 28th February 2025.

GRADE: GRADE 11

SUBJECT: Physics / Electronics

TOPIC: Introduction to Semiconductor Diodes and Their Role in Electronic Circuits

SUBTOPIC:

Half-wave rectification process and its applications

Comparison of Direct Current (DC) and Rectified Alternating Current (AC) with emphasis on V-t graphs

Logic gate symbols: AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR

Truth tables for logic gates and their functions

Analysis of circuits with combinations of logic gates

The impact of electronic and technological advances on society and their implications

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to describe the functioning of a semiconductor diode in half-wave
rectification, demonstrating understanding through diagrams and explanations of the process.

Students will differentiate between direct current (DC) from batteries and rectified alternating current (AC) by
analyzing and comparing the V-t graphs of both types of current, explaining at least three key differences.

Students will recall and accurately depict the symbols for AND, OR, NOT, NAND, and NOR logic gates, ensuring that
their representations are clear and precise.

Students will state the function of each logic gate (AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR) using truth tables, providing a minimum
of three examples for each gate to illustrate their functions.
Students will analyze and solve circuit problems that involve combinations of no more than three logic gates,
demonstrating the ability to determine the output based on given inputs.

Students will discuss and present the impact of recent electronic and technological advances on society, providing at
least two specific examples and evaluating their significance.
