In this manual, you will learn how to write a formal email, a summary, a cover letter, a
CV (Curriculum Vitae), and an essay. In pages 4-7 you will find a series of exercises to
practice the topics, in order to be able to complete them you will work using the
following procedure.

Step 3:
As UAAL hour this week, investigate using two different resources (links and books)
about how to write the type of writing you chose making sure you at least find the
information listed below and write helpful notes on the back of the page that will
provide enough information for your team to answer the exercises and/or write an
example of their own. You also need to print an example of it. DO NOT bring the
information printed ONLY the example.
By the time you get to the classroom you should have the answers to the questions
already written down at the back of this sheet or your task answered.
In page 3 you will find suggested links to search for the information and at UAAL there
will be a section with suggested books.

1) What is a/an ?
2) Format (structure, parts or template) that shows the process and what to
include when writing it.
3) Useful information such as what to do or what not to do.

Step 4:
You will need to have your notes and printed example ready in class to share what
you found with your group and do the exercises together.
Step 5:
As Homework, write an example different from the one you investigated about and
bring it to class (your teacher will tell you when to bring it so you do peer correction).
Step 6:
Exchange your essay with a partner and answer the peer correction questionnaire in
page 10. Afterwards, you will give feedback to your partner and as homework you will
rewrite your work using the feedback given.
Step 7:
Turn in your final work.
