OBJECTIVE

The objective of this assignment is to:

● Fundamental Understanding and Application of Subnetting Techniques.

● Learn and practice addressing Network Structures in cloud computing.

Assignment Statement: (20 Marks)

You are managing a cloud environment where several Virtual Machines (VMs) are hosted for different departments of an organization. The cloud environment has been

allocated an IP block of 192.168.10.0/24.

You are required to divide this IP block into multiple subnets to fulfill the following departmental needs:

 HR Department requires 30 VMs.

 Finance Department requires 20 VMs.

 IT Department requires 50 VMs.

 Marketing Department requires 10 VMs.

Each department's VMs should be assigned IP addresses from separate subnets. You must perform the following tasks:

1. Subnet Calculation:

o Determine the subnet mask for each department.

o Specify the network address, first valid IP, last valid IP, and broadcast address for each subnet.

2. Subnet Allocation:

o Assign subnets to the departments based on their size requirements efficiently (i.e., minimize IP wastage).

Important Notes:

 Subnets should not overlap.
