Determinants (Class XII)

Max. Marks : 35 Time Allowed : 75 Min.
Section – A
(Questions no. 1 to 3 carry 1 mark each)

1. If A is a square matrix of order 3 such that|𝐴𝑑𝑗 𝐴| = 225, find |𝐴′ |.

cos 𝜃 sin 𝜃
2. If 𝐴 = [ ], then find the value of Det (𝐴3 ).
− sin 𝜃 cos 𝜃

6. If A and B are square matrices of the same order 3, such that |𝐴| = 2 and AB = 2I, write the
value of |𝐵|.

4 2−𝐾
7. Find the value of k, so that the matrix [ ] is singular.

Section – C
(Questions no. 10 to 14 carry 4 marks each)

2𝑥 + 3𝑦 + 4𝑧 = 17
𝑦 + 2𝑧 = 7
12. A school wants to award its students for the values of Honesty, Regularity and Hard work with
a total cash award of Rs. 6,000. Three times the award money for Hard work added to the given
for Honesty amounts to Rs. 11,000. The award money given for Honesty and Hard work
together is double the one given for Regularity. Represent the above situation algebraically
and find the award money for each value, using matrix method.
