1. What does BIOS stands for? Explain its importance to a computer.

2. Differentiate BIOS from CMOS. Explain the three forms of BIOS. Give reasons that may
force changes in BIOS settings.

3. During the boot process of a computer, the computer undergoes Power on Self-Test
(POST). Briefly explain what exactly takes place at this stage of initialization?

4. Explain the differences between cold booting and warm booting in computing.

5. Resolution is one of the important considerations when buying a monitor. Explain what
does the term resolution means.

6. Errors that occur during the POST can be classified as either 'fatal' or 'non-fatal'. Explain
the difference between fatal and non-fatal error.

7. What menu options did you see on the screen when the BIOS started? List them all.

8. If you made changes to the BIOS and decided that you did not want to save them what
would you do?

9. If you made changes and saved them to the BIOS, then you decided that you wanted to
undo those changes what would you do?

10. What happens when you start the computer after you have setup the CD as the only
boot device?

11. How many devices can be set in the boot sequence?

12. List all the devices that can be set in the boot sequence.

13. What would you do if you don’t want to have a third boot sequence?
