“QUANTUM COMPUTING”
1] Introduction:-
Focusing on the principles of quantum superposition, entanglement, and tunneling, quantum computing is an
up and coming evolution that is capable of computing on a scale that cannot be accomplished with classical
computing. Unlike traditional computers that process data in the form of bits (which are in the form of 0s and
1s), quantum computers leverage qubits which are able to exist in multiple states at once. This uniqueness
allows quantum computers to solve complex problems at an exponentially higher speed than traditional
computer systems.

2] Purpose:-
The goal of this presentation is to describe the technology behind quantum computers, including the basic
concepts, processes, commercial use, and influence within the engineering disciplines. Moreover, the
presentation will also tackle the issues that need to be resolved to make quantum computers commonplace and
usable.

3] Key Content:-
Principles of Quantum Mechanics: It’s a delicate balance understanding superposition, entanglement, and
quantum tunneling which are the building blocks of quantum computing.
Functioning of Quantum Computing: A vast topic including definitions of qubits, quantum gates and circuits,
as well as quantum Shor and Grover algorithms.
Applications: The metamorphosis quantum computing is bringing to various fields like cryptography with
quantum encryption, AI with machine learning, pharmaceuticals through drug discovery and molecular
simulations, and logistics with supply chain optimization.
Engineering Challenges: The barriers and limitations present now such as scalability, quantum error
elongation, and decoherence or the extremely low temperatures needed for stable operations.
Future Scope: Other advancements in engineering to tackle next communication gaps and large simulations
using quantum computing technology.

4] Engineering Relevance:-
Quantum computer techniques will transform multiple disciplines of engineering. It ranges from providing
new dimensions to material science using quantum simulations to upgrading cybersecurity through quantum
cryptography. Its scope includes electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and even aerospace
engineering. With even more advances in faster problem solving and optimization, quantum computer will
further innovate new solutions.
5] Future Of Quantum Computing:-
Transforming Industries: In tandem with the development of quantum computing, sectors like
pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, aerospace, and energy are poised to undergo transformation. It will
revolutionize drug development, improve supply chain strategies, and facilitate rapid and precise virtual
modeling of physical systems.

Creation of Quantum Software: Besides the development of software, there must also be advances in hardware
that will allow quantum computers to be truly useful.

Quantum Cloud Computing: The emergence of quantum cloud computing platforms will open up quantum
resources to the wider public, enabling researchers, engineers, and companies from all corners of the globe to
harness the power of quantum computing.

Effect on Security and Privacy: With the ability to break modern encryption systems, quantum computing will
change digital security forever, paving the way for quantum-resistant encryption protocols.

Long-term Outlook: Quantum computing can make the impossible possible by modeling entire quantum
systems, which can change materials science, climate change, and artificial intelligence for the better.

6] Expected Outcomes:-
By the end of this presentation, we will get clarity of:
• Gain a clear understanding of the principles behind quantum computing.
• Learn about its engineering applications and how it differs from classical computing.

• Recognize the current limitations and challenges that need to be addressed.

7] Conclusion:-
Quantum computing represents a technological leap, harnessing quantum mechanics to solve problems
classical computers cannot.
In the long term, quantum computing will solve complex problems in fields like materials science, climate
change, and artificial intelligence.
It holds the potential to revolutionize industries like pharmaceuticals, AI, cryptography, and optimization,
enabling breakthroughs that were previously impossible.
Despite challenges such as scalability, error correction, and high operational costs, advancements in
quantum technology are progressing rapidly.
