Arlil Rapadas
It is not a secret to most of us that Korean-pop, or K-pop, has already been wildly spreading almost all over the Philippines. Music is one part of the K-pop culture that is continuously becoming more and more popular here in the Philippines. There are many boy bands and girl groups that are really known among the Filipinos and one of them is the Super Junior. Super Junior currently has 13 members, two of which are just part of one of the sub-groups of the said boy band and two of which are inactive in the meantime. In the year 2010, Super Junior released a new single, which instantly became a hit that time, entitled BONAMANA. This song was first released as a digital single on May 10, 2010 and the music video was released 3 days later. Bonamana is a romanized Korean word that means Beauty. The lyrics of the song were all about a guy who is constantly wooing a certain girl despite of the girl continuously ignoring the guy. The music video of the song, according to a Wikipedia article, was budgeted lowly and was entirely shot in disoriented sepia color, with shadows and alternating brighter lights shining on the members, consistently changing the lighting of the video. Considering the popularity of Super Junior in that time, this lowly-budgeted music video still became a hit. In evaluating this music video, I took in to consideration three main things: the lyrics of the song, the tune of the song and the music video of the song. I judged this song also taking into consideration that the singer of this song is a boy band with 9 members performing in the video and the fact that this is a Korean song. In judging music videos, one of the things that I really look at is the connection of the music video to the lyrics of the song and if the music video of a song happened to be a scenic or a dance video, I really am expecting a very dramatic or a very excellent choreography.

2
The lyrics of the song BONAMANA is just Korean and there is really no officially released English translation of the lyrics so I used a translated lyric by kimchi hana & CHARM* @ Soompi for evaluation. As I've stated earlier, the lyrics of the song is basically about a guy who is constantly wooing her despite the fact that the girl is just ignoring him continuously. In the first part of the song, the girl is kind of described in a very brief way. Despite of the short description, it can be seen that the girl is really beautiful. This may suggest that most guys like girls just because of their physical appearance. In the next part of the song, a line means that only a brave man has the guts to woo a girl like her and described that winning the girl's heart is like winning his life already. In this part of the song, it was shown that nowadays, people think that their lives revolve in making their special someones fall for them as well. With these statements, I see BONAMANA as a clich love story that is mostly seen in plots of dramas. A guy who fell in love with a pretty girl and because of that love, that guy will be willing to do anything for the girl. The lyrics of the song may provide stereotyping because it shows that pretty girls are the only girls who deserve to be loved like how the guy in the lyrics of the song loves the girl.

the song is basically about a guy who is constantly wooing her despite the fact that the girl is just ignoring him continuously
The next part of the song shows how powerful a woman can be over a man who is really head-over-heels about her. The chorus of the song revolves around the guy's misery becaue of the girl's indiference to the guy and the guy's perseverance just to be noticed. In the next verse of the song, the guy is still ranting about what he should do just to be noticed. One of the things the guy plans to do is to buy her a present. This shows how society thinks about pleasing a girl. They always think that presents are important when in fact, according to my girl friends, most girls will appreciate other things given to her instead of gifts. In the part before the last chorus, a cliche-ish statement is given that ssays he will wait for the girl no matter what. In the real world, this happens really a lot but we all know that these "waitings" barely make it to forever. After evaluating the lyrics of the song, I personally think that the tune of the song isn't appropriate with the lyrics of the songs. After reading through the translated lyrics of BONAMANA, I have already considered it as a love song. Long ago, I really never cared about what the Korean lyrics meant. But now that I have learned it, I have considered it a love song, not just a dance-y tuned song. For me, love songs should be romantic and serene, not dance-able. And because of this, I really don't think that the tune of this song is appropriate to its lyrics. If you are a girl, do you prefer being dedicated a dance-y tuned song or a romantic serene song?

3
the song isn't appropriate with the lyrics of the songs its a love song

When it comes to the music video, I really have no problem appreciating it. Well, except for the fact that I consider BONAMANA a love song, I find the music video very appropriate to the tune of the song. I stated in the first paragraph that the music video was budgeted lowly and that impressed me more. The e music video really looked high class with the changing backlights and alternating spotlights on the members. The choreography added intensity to the my overall view to the music video since the choreography is really exquisite and in fairness, was really executed almost perfectly by all the members. The balancing of the exposure of the members was also nice because it was made in a way that no one gets aggravated. The solo frames of the members also pulled up the strength of the music video plus the fact that all of the members, aside from being talented, are also very good-looking. Frankly, my view in this music video changed after this evaluation. Positively and negatively. Well, the lyrics of the song were really an eye-opener for me. I was quite dismayed after learning the English version almost by heart but thismusic video made a great comeback when I learned that the music video was budgeted lowly, which doesn't show in the music video. Well, all things have pros and cons. I was bias because I am genuinely in love with the Super Junior. I thought that I will not find anything wrong in whatever song of theirs that I pick. But here I am, stand corrected. So overall, I will give this music video an 7.5 out of 10. What really pulled down the rating of this song were the connection of the lyrics to the tune and the music video of the song. But as I've said earlier, I took in to consideration the difference of our cultures. Maybe, it will be better if the song was slow and all instead of being a party-hard song. If this song became a slow song, the message of the lyrics will be more seen and will be more felt by the listeners. Well, in my opinion, maybe the reason why the girl is continuously ignoring the guy I because of how he approached (tune of the song) the girl, don't you think so? :)

Don't be a Drag, Just be a Queen

Jacques Sinapuelas
Music has been my everyday companion in all my endeavors, whether it be walking to school, waiting in long lines or even as I go to sleep. I pretty much listen to Pop music though I still listen to other genres, Pop music stands out for me. I listen to a variety of Pop music, they from classic pop, country pop, electro-pop, and even pop rock. My favorite Pop artist of all time is Britney Spears but as of the moment Im in love with Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Adele. The melody is the first aspect that I like in a song, if it has an upbeat and lively tune itll automatically grab my attention. I like songs with catchy lyrics and the lyrics also have a strong conviction to them. Of course, the artist is a major factor to my liking. The music video helps me find out the true meaning to the song and plays a vital part in the songs salability. The music video also measures the singers artistry, creativity and originality. The music video of a great artist sets him apart from others. The first Lady Gaga song I heard from the radio was Just Dance. I was immediately entranced with Lady Gagas voice, style, and overall performance in that video. It shows her individuality as a singer and as a performer. Ever since Just Dance, I have been an avid fan of hers. Now, I want to critique one of her famous songs, which is Born This Way. Born This Way reached number one in 19 countries. It became her third single to top the US Hot 100 chart and the 1000th song by any artist. It became the fastest-selling song in iTunes history, selling one million copies in five days. "Born This Way" has sold 8.2 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the best-selling singles of all time. No wonder Lady Gaga is one of the most successful and most sought after artists of the century. The very first time I listened to this song, I immediately wanted to dance to the beat and let loose. Typical of Lady Gaga, but she still got my attention. What made this song very significant for me is the songs lyrics and the meaning behind them. The video is also an epitome of Lady Gagas brilliance and artistry.

6
I want it to be an attack, an assault on the issue because I think, especially in today's music, everything gets kind of washy sometimes and the message gets hidden in the lyrical play. Harkening back to the early '90s, when Madonna, En Vogue,Whitney Houston and TLC were making very empowering music for women and the gay community and all kind of disenfranchised communities, the lyrics and the melodies were very poignant and very gospel and very spiritual and I said, 'That's the kind of record I need to make. That's the record that's going to shake up the industry.' It's not about the track. It's not about the production. It's about the song. Anyone could sing 'Born This Way'. It could've been anyone." This was Lady Gagas answer when she was asked what her inspiration was for writing Born this way. The lyrics of the song clearly discuss self-empowerment and acceptance. It features the names of the LGBT communities, like gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgendered and including "chola" and "orient". This gives us the direct meaning of the song. The language used in the song has slang. Some may not understand this slang like chola, which usually indicates a person of Mexican or Mexican-American descent that is associated with a particular Southwestern gangster group. Other slang such as Orient, which means people from the east, and Drag, which means a Gay man dressed as a woman. The lyrics are blunt but in a good way. The lyrics reach out to all the outcasts, the bullied, and the victims of racism who are looking for acceptance. The lyrics also say that God has created you perfectly and there is nothing wrong with you. You are beautiful in your own way because God does not make any mistakes. The Born This Way video begins with a brief shot of a Unicorn's silhouette in a steam-filled alley, inside a pink triangle frame. The triangle transitions to a shot of Lady Gaga with two opposite facing heads, sitting in an ornate glass throne amidst a star-filled space. Lady Gaga tells the story of the creation of an extraterrestrial race that "bears no prejudice, no judgment, but boundless freedom." Lady Gaga sits in the throne, giving birth to a "new race within the race of humanity." She explains that this was followed by the birth of evil, due to which Gaga splits into two opposing forces of good and evil. Her new half gives birth to a machine gun and fires it. The prologue concludes with Lady Gaga questioning, " "

7
I must say that the prelude before the song was very lengthy, and now has been a trademark for Lady Gaga, and was very unnecessary. I would have much appreciated the music video if she has gone directly to the song. There was a lot of nudity in the song that might have put off younger fans but I think the nudity symbolizes our true and bare selves that show who we really are. The part when Lady Gaga wore a suit was symbolic; as she embodies the message of the lyrics A different lover is not a sin. I appreciate the videos simplicity relative to other Lady Gaga videos except for the lengthy prelude. In the end I would give the song eight stars out of ten because of the songs strong message towards society and it really made me dance my socks off, but I was not a total fan of the video. I love to see a shorter video of the song because the song means so much to many people and yet the video was unclear and lengthy.

Paramore had always been rocking their fans hearts since 2002. Most of the members were only 12 or 13 when they started the band. The oldest member in the group is Jeremy Davis. He was 16 when Paramore started. There was a time when Jeremy actually admitted that he had a little faith in everyone in the band because of their age; and He even thought that it was not going to work because they were too young, but their first day of practice went great since then he knew that they were on to something [American Pop Punk Band]. Now that they are already young adults, they have successfully released three albums: All We Know Is Falling, Riot, and Brand New Eyes. The bands 2007 album RIOT has sold over two million copies worldwide, the group was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008 for "Best New Artist" and even their live CD/DVD The Final Riot has gone gold [MTV]. Currently, Brand New Eyes is now in platinum. I admit that Paramore has a lot of good songs and music because I had been a fan since I was still in my freshmen year in high school. Rock has always been my favourite music genre, because it always makes me feel active and perky. Since Paramore excelled in this genre considering the fact that their previous albums were a hit and I have all their songs in my iPod they became my favourite band. When I was in my second year, Paramore became more popular when they released the song Decode for the movie Twilight, which was a success because the movie earned $392,616,625 in the year 2008 [Total Lifetime Grosses]. Unfortunately, everything has a baggage or a flaw. Paramore may be my favourite band but there are things about them that make me wonder why I am still a fan. Paramore had been successful for almost 5 years now, but through their career they also had ups and downs, so I look at three main things as a guide to how I view Paramore as a band.

9
First, I based it on how Paramore views their songs by making creative lyrics and how they use words. Grammar and the use of appropriate words are usually what I look at first when it comes to lyrics. Second is on how the band creates the song, like the song is inspired by what, and what do the song mean and where did they get it from, because the deeper meaning of the song is what every person wants. For example, the song Born this way by Lady Gaga, her fans didnt mind about the songs disturbing video because they like the song people relate to the song. They can relate because being different is what makes you beautiful and worth it, which is the meaning of the song. Third, how the band created the music that will suite the song the instruments used; the way it was structured; how the band challenge themselves, whether it is about changing their sound or just being consistent, etc. When it comes to lyrics and the words for the song, all of the members in the band help and contribute but mostly Hayley Williams, Paramores lead singer, do the writing of lyrics while Josh Farro, one of Paramores guitarist, mostly thinks of the instrumental part of the song. Basing on their latest album, Brand New Eyes, their lyrics improved in a way that its a bit more sophisticated compared to their previous songs from their 2007 album Riot. They used to have naive and inappropriate words in their songs, like the word whore. For example, the song Misery Business in Riot with the lyrics, Second changes they dont even matter, people never change. Once a whore, youre nothing more, Im sorry, thatll never change. Their latest album shows nicer lyrics than their previous album Riot. One of Brand New Eyes songs, Ignorance has the lyrics, Well, you treat me just like another stranger. Well, its nice to meet you, sir. I guess Ill go, I best be on my way out. Ignorance is a song about a person who is angry at someone, but rather than show immaturity, Hayley used lyrics that are professional and suitable without removing the real meaning and purpose of the song, which is being angry. The evolution of their lyrics shows how the band and band members are growing from teenagers to adults. Another example is the song Feeling Sorry, I feel no sympathy, you live inside a cave. You barely get by the rest of us. Youre trying, theres no need to apologize. Ive got no time for feeling sorry. It means that they are fed up of someone because they are tired of waiting for him to go out of his safe zone or his box. They want him to join them and discover the true meaning of life, which is adventure and just having fun. In the lyrics, Hayley used words that are just nice enough to show that they care but still shows their true message that theyre tired and theyve got no time anymore for feeling sorry for him. So rather than saying immature lines like Get up! You lazy ass! Youre just wasting your time your life.

Paramore songs are based mostly on the band members like what they feel, what problems they are dealing with, and some other things that they just want to share or tell to their fans or to the world. I One example is the song Monster. Right after Paramore released Brand New Eyes, Josh Farro, guitarist, and Zac Farro, drummer, left the band. As a proof that they are leaving Paramore, Josh wrote in his blog a statement, which contains his awful comments about Paramore and a detailed explanation on why they chose to leave [Farro Brothers]. Fortunately, the break-up didnt stop Paramore in making good music. Currently, Jeremy Davis, who plays the guitar and bass, Taylor York, who plays also the guitar and some percussion instruments for Paramore, and Hayley Williams, lead singer, are the only members left. Nevertheless, even though they are the only ones left, they still try their best to stay as a band and continue to make Paramore a successful band. Paramore have confirmed they still have plans to release new music this year, despite the loss of two of the group's founding members. "We will definitely release songs, who knows if a full album will come out of it? Let's just start this new chapter already, because it can only be great." Williams told MTV News. The singer also admitted that Paramore's sound was likely to change with the new line-up, but clarified that the band would still retain their signature sound [Paramore To Release New Music This Year]. Right after the Farro Brothers left, Paramore released a new single called Monster. Its a song for the movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The name of the song makes you think right? Is it inspired by the anger that the band felt to the Farro brothers because they left? Well, it is possible because it was released right after the break up. From an interview in MTV, Hayleys reply to the Farro brothers departure was that she doesnt want to show that shes angry, she doesnt want the Paramores fans to see them breaking or even furious about what happened, so (maybe) she created this song so that she can still be professional, express what she feels for the Farro brothers, and still make good music. I'm only human, I've got a skeleton in me but I'm not the villain, despite what you're always preaching. Call me a traitor, I'm just collecting your victims, some lyrics form the song Monster. Im only human, Ive got a skeleton in me, meaning she also makes mistakes and flaws. Im not a villain, despite what youre always preaching, meaning she is not want he claims that he thinks she is. Call me a traitor, Im just collecting your victims, meaning she is not the bad guy and ever since shes been helping him with their fans. Basically, what I want to show is that some of their songs are based on their life; most of their songs are about what they feel. It is like making a poem or even trying to paint a picture, you create these images with your feelings.

1 1
Josh also found out that some songs that Hayley composed in their album Brand New Eyes, presented lyrics that were really negative and the band didnt agree with it. For example, the truth never set me free, -lyrics are from the song Careful- which contradicts what the Bible says in John 8:32 (and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free) [Farro Brothers]. We fought her about how her lyrics misrepresented our band and what we stood for, but in the end she got her way. Instead of fighting her any longer, we decided to just roll over and let it go, said Josh [Farro Brothers]. This made her look like a brat, but the meaning of the lyrics depends on the person understanding it. From Youtube videos and some videos from their official website, Hayley always thanks God and she is quite religious. Some of her songs in the album Riot are somewhat religious too like the song Hallelujah. But come to think of it, there are some songs in Brand New Eyes that contradict with Hayley having a Christian religion. For example, the song Turn it off has the lyrics I scraped my knees when I was praying and found a demon in my safest haven, seems like it's getting harder to believe in anything than just to get lost in all my selfish thoughts. It makes you ask questions like, while youre praying you saw a demon? Getting harder to believe in what particularly in God? Get lost in your selfish thoughts? Another example is the song Playing God, this song questions what the Almighty is doing. This song also has a part saying that He is lonely because He is alone. We can tell that the lyrics signify that their beliefs are changing I dont really the exact reason why. Maybe its because they live in an emo-ish society, because their songs are more on emo, punk and rock songs, that they got their beliefs from the people that they encounter or meet; or maybe of their desperation of creating a new song, that make them think that using these lyrics will be fine and no one will notice its hidden message.

12
The songs Only Exception and All I Wanted are songs that are based on the divorce of Hayleys parents. With the lyrics When I was younger, I saw my daddy cry and curse at the wind. He broke his own heart and I watched as he tried to reassemble it. My momma swore that she would never let herself forget. And that was the day that I promised Id never sing of love if it does not exist, from the song Only Exception, it is quite obvious that it was about her parents because of daddy, momma and something about love being nonexistent. Another example is All I Wanted, I could follow you to the beginning just to relive the start and maybe then well remember to slow down and fall of our favourite parts. The song All I Wanted is a song of someone that she wants to comeback and shes been remembering their memories together The person Hayley is referring to is her mother because she had always been with his father. As I said before, their songs are all about their life. Paramore rarely have happy songs. Brand New Eyes doesnt even contain happy songs only conflicts and problems. The only happy song that I can remember are Hallelujah, a song about faith, and Brighter, a song about being positive. The songs in the albums All We Know and Riot are all loud and powerful, but the songs in Brand New Eyes are a bit different than what they were used to. The album starts with the song Careful, which is more like Paramores previous songs. Its not a bad thing because it makes Paramore fans still remember what they wanted from the previous albums and connect it to the new album and still have a reason to listen to the whole album. Next is the song Ignorance, which was released months before the album, that seems a more "punk-esque" driven song, starting with a powering riff and a belted out chorus [Norphin]. Some songs like Playing God, which is played with note-based riffs, and Only Exception, which is played using acoustic chords, are somewhat sifter and slower than their previous songs [Norphin].But what makes the album, Brand New Eyes, more unique than the previous albums is the song Misguided Ghost. The song has a different structure, a different melody, and I can compare it to a Jason Mraz song its quite close to a tropical or a beach song, but the song is about a lost soul. Its good that they try to challenge themselves and go outside their box. Its good that they are not afraid of using different kinds of genre. Actually they also tried Country music; they created the song You Aint Woman Enough for someones album Coal miners daughter a tribute to Loretta Lynn, an American country music singer-songwriter, author and philanthropist. I think Other than the chords and the instrumental part of the song, the singer improved too. Hayleys voice has this way of controlling her voice and range of music that she can do. Through the years, she can still belt out full shouted vocals on the song Ignorance, which is full of loud and energetic notes, and there are also some shouting parts in the chorus. As a rockstar, she can sing with great control and care with songs like Misguided Ghosts, which is a very slow and soft song with a gloomy aura, and Only Exception, almost the same as Misguided Ghosts but with a acoustic touch. She improved her voice in a sense that she can sing a song with a different kind of music or genre, and she can control how she sings whether its a slow song or a fast one. It is fantastic how she can do that, some bands like Owl City and Green Day cant even do that [Norphin]. Rating Paramore from one to ten and ten being the highest, I would give them an eight because they have a lot of improvements from writing lyrics to creating music that suite the words. I didnt want to give them a perfect ten because some of the songs are against my religion, but it will never change the fact that it is still my favourite band because from all the rock bands Ive seen, I still like Paramores music better than them. They may have change, but they have improved a lot.

The Music of Life
Kim Ada

Even if life tries to bring you down, you should fight back, hold on and keep going no matter what obstacles you might encounter or what hardships you might face. If you do your best and believe in yourself, you can do anything because there are no boundaries, no limits to do whatever you want. This is what the song of Kris Allen entitled "No Boundaries" is trying to convey to us. I am not really that kind of person who often listens to songs because I find some genres boring. Good music for me, first of all, is if it catches my attention with its lyrics, its melody, and especially if it was sung well. Also, I find a song admirable if I can relate to what it is trying to convey.

Every song we listen to has its own message that it wants to deliver.
For us to fully understand and appreciate it, a song should be sung in a way that people will understand the lyrics and enjoy listening to. These are the reasons why I find "No Boundaries" good. Kris Allen sings this song so well that I, as a listener, really hear and understand what he wants to say. Moreover, the melody of this song is pleasing to hear and easy to remember.

15
All I can say is that this song is really awesome. Why? First of all, this song is really wonderful from the lyrics, And what if my chances were already gone? Started believing that I could be wrong but you give me one good reason to fight and never walk away, I find it so inspiring. By the way it was sung by Kris Allen since he is a notable singer, I can really understand what he says and his voice is so good, and especially, the melody which sounds very soothing. Another reason why I like this song is how the message of the song is brought out to us. For the listener to easily understand what the song is trying to say, the composers of this song directly expressed the message in the lyrics of the song. I think, it is a better idea compared to having the listeners think deeply and read between the lines just so they can understand the song. It is a bit difficult to enjoy a song if we focus more on understanding what it is trying to say instead of knowing it the first time we hear it. For most people who want to just simply enjoy a song, the ease of understanding the message is important. Though the song has a wonderful message,

this song is idealistic.

We all know

that life is not easy and achieving our goals is not just one step away. The lyrics of the song make it seem like achieving our dreams and attaining our goals is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Although the song contains lyrics such as climb another mountain or weather the hurricanes which in real life are hard things to do since they are metaphors expressing difficulty and obstacles, the song makes overcoming them sound easy because of the lyrics, with every step and youll make it through the pain that precede these lines. The song says that all the difficulties we are experiencing in life can be overcome with just a simple step does not express reality. For a person with serious illness, he/she cannot just take a simple or single operation for his/her recovery. He/she needs a long-term or lifetime operations but his/her recovery is still just a probability.

Optimistic people relate to this song and it is for pessimistic people who need to be motivated. For realists, however, it is, as stated earlier, idealistic. The song says that just when you think the road is going nowherethey take you by the hand and show you that you can. These lines say that every time you think you hit a dead end, youre stuck or you dont know where to go, there will always be something that will show you the way. It says that whenever we need it, help will always be there. This isnt always the case in real life. Help might come sometimes, but sometimes its up to us to make out dreams come true. Although this is the case, I think that the song is meant to be idealistic. It was made for the finale of , specifically for Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. The song is perfect for them because its about pursuing and fulfilling your dreams. For the two men, they have reached their dreams. They went through every elimination nights, they practiced a lot and sang their hearts out on stage. Its not easy to achieve genuine and great fame in our world today, but these two show that if you do your best and not let anything get in the way, you can do anything. Based on my criteria for a good song, the rating of this song, No Boundaries, is 9 out of 10 stars, with 10 being the highest. Since, as I first heard the song, it easily caught my attention. I tend to always listen to its beautiful melody and inspiring lyrics. How I wish that all people in this world could have the chance to listen to this song because, overall, this song by Kris Allen is totally a great one. It gives inspiration to us listeners that as long as we live our lives, no matter how hard the things we encounter might be, there's no reason for us to give up. Thinking that there are no boundaries, well develop a mindset that tells us that no

matter what happens, as long as we

go on, we can live our lives happily and to the fullest. We should not stop living our lives just because we find it difficult. We should have the courage to go on through our lives.

Have you experienced being lost in a forest, having no idea where to go or to run? And suddenly some scary and weird looking creatures pop out in front of you and come after you? Well then, I invite you to download the newest talk of the town, the Temple Run application by Apple which is available at the Apple App Store for free! Many have been already addicted in the game and many are still yet to be one.

18
Temple Run is the newest application available in the Apple App Store that people of all ages today are enjoying. on the App Store which just proves how much people have already loved and enjoyed playing and using this application. According msdeagleslanding.com, the application has been in the top 50 most downloaded in the App Store as of December 2011 and coming from another source which is techcrunch.com, it eventually became the number one free iOS application. In just a short time of 6 months of being available in the App Store, it definitely has soared high and because of that has been even copied by many such as Temple Guns and Temple Jump according to inentertainment.co.uk. The same source also says that it has already hit 36 million downloads as of January 15, 2012. Let me make a little background check of the application. Temple Run is a video game developed by Washington, D.C.-based Imangi Studios according to its official website which is imangistudios.com. It is also stated there that it was formerly being sold at 99 cents per download but they decided to just put it up in App Store for free. Being free to be availed, the application soon started to be downloaded and enjoyed by millions of people around the globe. I for myself had played and enjoyed many different applications from the Macintosh series of apple but looks like this one have really passed my criteria with flying colors. So I will be discussing more of what I find about an application for me to truly be a fan of it. First is the entertainment value of the game, why would we play games that would just kill us to boredom, right? Next is the size of the file or the application, it should really be not large occupying file; it is to enable us to have other applications on our gadget. Next in this is the price of the application in the App Store, we should be always practical consumers in everything we buy. Last is the educational or the new things that can be learned from such applications or games we play, because

. For me these are the factors that make up a good application or game in the iPods and other devices.

19
As for this application, Temple Run, it definitely has a high percentage for the entertainment value which comes first in my criterion. This game definitely brings a different kind of fun experience to those who are playing it. Again for my next criterion, it does get a quite high percentage because it only occupies a small space of memory of my gadget, it is actually just 19.5 megabytes in size which just nothing to the 8 gigabyte memory capacity of most gadgets. Next is the price of the product, and again in this criterion the percentage would definitely be high because of the fact that the application can now be purchased for free in the App Store as I have mentioned above. For my last criterion, the application seems to get a lower percentage in this area compared to my other criteria because I thinks it is hard to think or to get an educational things to learn from the application, the products seems to offer pure entertainment that is why it would rate low in this criterion of mine. As an evaluation according to my criteria, the application would definitely be the application that most gamers would love to have and to play in their gadgets. As we know, . As for this application, I can say that like any video game, it has the same bad effects which are: players of this game tend to be addicted in a bad way when they tend to forget the things they have to do especially for students like me, rather than studying they would just play the game and spend all of their free time for it, they can also ignore their need to eat on time just because of this, so guidance must be in strictly done by the parents to their kids. Of course the good effects of this game will also be mentioned, and only thing I can say is it is a good form of relaxation, it makes you forget all the stress from due paper works and other stuff that are bugling inside our head. It makes you think better after playing it because of the relaxation you have undergone. ` As a conclusion this application or game has Thanks to the creative minds of its designers and publisher that it has been available for everyone in the world. All we need is a regulation for ourselves in using the application so that we can avoid not so good consequences of too much time playing the game. To end, I would say that a rating of 90% would be what I give for this application.

TGIF Yesterday was Thursday, Today is Friday

Salve Lugnasin
Its Friday, Friday! Gotta get down on Friday! Everybodys lookin forward to the weekend. Partyin, partyin Yeah! Fun, fun, fun. Lookin forward to the weekend! The song Friday by Rebecca Black had undeniably claimed the title of WORST SONG EVER. In fact, if you google worst song ever the results would show Rebecca Blacks Friday. But ironically, it became a sensation in the year 2011. Only a day after its debut, the music video released on YouTube had already reached over three million views. While it became the most-viewed video at that time, it also became the most-disliked video. Three months after its debut, it had reached more than 167 million views. At the same time, it had over 3.1 million dislikes (87% of total ratings) from YouTube users which eventually caused its removal from YouTube [1]. It was uploaded back to YouTube three months after though. Truly, the song had caught so much attention from people all over the world! One even said, The virality of "Friday," a wannabe weekend-party anthem for the new generation, had nothing to do with the song being any good, Rebecca being particularly attractive or gifted, or even with the fact that it was, well, the weekend. It's simply because it was so unbelievably BAD [2]. The song itself, as well as the music video, had received a tremendous amount of negative comments/reviews from the people and also from various celebrities. Simon Cowell has said, The fact that it's making people so angry is brilliant." [3] So, whats in the music video and even the song itself that has gotten millions of people mad? Well, the music video is basically about the typical weekend for most kids these days. Partying and just partying. It starts with waking up in the morning wherein Rebecca Black is shown to be just coming out of bed. 7am waking up in the morning. Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs. Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal. Blah, blah, blah! The first verse was really just a narration of how she started out with the day. As the video progresses, she meets her friends and they all start to party. You could say, the song was really just about some girl who was awfully excited about the weekend. Just that. Nothing so fancy. People were extremely bothered about the lyrics. A chorus that goes: It's Friday, Friday Gotta get down on Friday Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend, weekend. Friday, Friday Gettin' down on Friday Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend. Partyin', partyin' (Yeah) Partyin', partyin' (Yeah) Fun, fun, fun, fun Lookin' forward to the weekend. Most people just thought it was non-sense. In a song, people are most particular about the lyrics, tune, and the quality of the voice of the artist. Some factors that could help identify good music are as follows: It the piece technically well executed? Is there a feeling of "musicality" about it? Is the chief attraction not the music but the words? Does the piece appeal on a variety of levels intellectual, emotional, spiritual? Do you feel positively stimulated, better, richer, fuller, or improved in some way for having heard the piece? [4]

First of all, Rebecca didnt have a name in the music industry. She was a complete unknown to the whole world. But here came Friday! In spite of being an indie, the music video was clearly funded. In fact, Blacks mother paid $2000 for the video. [5] So, was it technically executed? Yes. For a newbie, the quality and technicalities of the music video was already something comparable to music video of famous artists right now. The song as well as the music video was of good quality. The shots, scenes, and over-all quality of the video was good. But what had bothered the people was the heavy use of auto-tuning in the song. Most people actually think, Can she actually sing? This fact is one factor that made the song very disappointing. Who would want to listen to something that isnt very good to the ears? Next, was there a feeling of "musicality" about the song? Did it invoke a desire for body movement that corresponds to the gestures in sound? Although most people found it BAD, the song was certainly something unforgettable and you could not help but suffer LSS (Last Song Syndrome). The song has a pretty catchy tune. No doubt, people had actually sung it unconsciously several times while dancing to it! Then, theres the lyrics! As was said, the lyrics are what had bothered the people the most! So is the chief attraction not the music but the words? Definitely! The lyrics attracted so many haters. The lyrics were too monotonous that it didnt appeal to the people. Seven a.m., waking up in the morning Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal Seein' everything, the time is goin' Tickin' on and on, everybody's rushin' Gotta get down to the bus stop Gotta catch my bus, I see my friends Who wants to hear a narration of this daily routine from someone anyway? Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday Today i-is FridayTomorrow is Saturday and Sunday comes afterwards. And who would want to receive a lecture from someone about the days of the week? Weve already learned them in kindergarten, right? Most songs usually contain words that could either connote something significant, or are just simply attractive to the audience. But Rebecca Blacks Friday is something that people would definitely take on literally. The fact that the lyrics are monotonous and arent good enough to make people think it has a significant meaning at all, shows how Rebecca Black failed her audience so much.

23
Another important thing is how the music affected us. Did the piece appeal on a variety of levels intellectual, emotional, spiritual? Did you feel positively stimulated, better, richer, fuller, or improved in some way for having heard the piece? Probably, the best word that could answer these questions is BOTHERSOME. The song was definitely bothersome. It was very disappointing. A lot of people would definitely agree to this. Rebecca Black made millions of people mad with her song. How would that make people feel any better? But even with all the negative parts, Rebecca Black is someone that you could still manage to love even if you despise her a lot. Who could not be amazed by someone who created so much controversy in just a blink? How could someone like her manage to become a millionaire in just a week? Even the great singers we have right now werent able to accomplish something like this! If this was to be rated from 1-10, I would certainly give it a 4! There are only three things in a music video that I give significance toLYRICS, FLOW, and the MUSIC. From the lyrics, you could see through the artist. Its just like a mirror that reflects the artist/writer. They express themselves through here. But the lyrics for Friday were just awful! There wasnt anything special in the flow of the story in the music video either. The flow of the story in the music video is supposed to be creative! This is where they should play with the song, create interesting stuff with it and attract an audience. Afterall, a music video is supposed to be a promotional video. Fortunately, the music was just okay except for the fact that there was a heavy use of auto-tuning. Just OKAY. Not that bad. Not that good either. It was just enough for people to remember and sing-along with it once in a while. Apparently, Rebecca Blacks AWFUL song is what made her FAMOUS. We usually tend to ignore things that we think are insignificant and bad. But how did Rebecca Black do it?! Well, the answer lies in the kind of world we live in now. Things spread quickly in just a blink because of the technology we have. With so many different kinds of people in the internet, anything could happen. Nowadays, awful is something worth noticing and spreading about. This is how Rebecca Blacks virus spread. I dont like Rebecca Black, just as I dont like clowns. Honestly, she isnt that bad! I mean, you couldnt hate her forever. It isnt her fault anyway. She didnt write those lyrics. But shes really something worth talking about. Shes awesome for having been able to go to the top just because people hated her so much. Nowadays, the quality of things has gone down. Awful is the new beautiful. So if youre interested in something hilarious and awful yet still worth talking about, you ought to know Rebecca Black. You couldnt help but despise and love her at the same time!
