Experiment No.-1.

Student Name: Kartik Tyagi UID: 21BEC1051

Branch: ECE Section/Group: 21BEC-1/A
Semester: 6th Date of Performance:29/1/24
Subject Name: CNOS Subject Code: 21ECH 312

1. Aim/Overview of the practical: To compare the working of networking devices

2. Apparatus/Tool Used: CISCO Packet tracer.

3. Theory:
LAN (Local Area Network): - It is a collection of networking equipment located
geographically close together. For example single room, campus etc. Data transferred in high
speed which ranges from 100 Mbps to gigabit for system development and have a low
implementation cost.
Upper limit: 10 km;
Lower limit: 1 km
Twisted pair cable or Co-axial cable connects the plug in cards to form a network. Designed to
share resources between PCs and workstation such as hardware or data.
Router: It is a hardware device that routes data from a local area network (LAN) to another
network connection. A router acts like a coin sorting machine, allowing only authorized
machines to connect to other computer systems.
5. Simulation Screen Shots
6.Result and Summary: Successfully designed and simulated LAN on Cisco Packet tracer.

Learning outcomes (What I have learnt):

1. Learnt how to create a basic LAN network on CISCO Packet tracer and how to configure all
the components by giving proper IP addresses.

2. Learnt that copper straight wire is used to connect dissimilar devices.

3.Learnt that copper cross wire is used to connect similar devices.

4.Learnt that switch is used to root the message to the particular line.

5.Learnt that the PC can only send the message to not more than one PC when connected to the
switch.
