1 Application
This document is applicable for the A-box parameter settings for the FS-2000.
2 Overview
ABOX saves the parameter files that are used for the mechanical controls. By changing the parameter
values, the mechanical motion can be adjusted. Followings describe the types of mechanical motion that
can be adjusted by changing the values of parameter file.
The default parameter files are included in the document HE5038.
s
1) Paddle
By changing parameters below, feeding condition such as the close note pitch or note skipping can be
adjusted.
- Pulses for lifting puddle during feeding
- Capacitive sensor level used for the control of lifting paddle.
2) Feeder
- Judging threshold for the NMD
3) Stacker Strapper
Change of below parameter will be used for the control of the stacking wheel angle during the
stacking wheel angle adjustment using Strobe scope.
- Synchronization of the feeder and stacking wheel.

3.1 Paddle
1) NoteStackDensityWrite=215
This parameter is used to reduce the number of skip in feeding note at the time of paddle
switching. Pulse value represents the bottom paddle to lift the notes up in order to fill the
gap after paddle switching from top to the bottom paddle. The distance that moves up for
each pulse is 0.1 mm/pulse.
2) NoteStackDensityMinWrite=140
This parameter is used to adjust the distance of the top paddle to descent at the time of
pulling out the top paddle. The pulse value represents the upward movement of the upper
paddle after the bottom paddle going up and upper paddle detects the top of the stacked note
at the bottom position.
3) PaddlePulseCount1Write=1
4) PaddlePulseCount2Write=2
5) PaddlePulseCount3Write=4
6) PaddlePulseCount4Write=6
7) PaddlePulseCount5Write=8
Paddle upward control is made depends on the position of the feeder top lever.
For each stroke made by the feeder shuttle, PI sensor from PDC1 to PDC3 reads the lever
position, and depending on the lever position, upward pulse is selected to control the feeder
paddle. Example is as follow:
5 4 3 2 1 0
position

Distance from the backup position 25 20 15 10 5 0

Sensor2 PDC2 □ ■ ■ ■ □ □

3.2 Feeder
1) NmdMiThresholdWrite=40
2) NmdMiThresholdCount=20
There are two double note detection, or NMD sensor, thresholds. These thresholds are not used
as the FS-2000 for Brink’s Hong Kong does not have NMD sensor.
3.3 Detector
1) G1PhaseLimitHigh=29
2) G1PhaseLimitLow=59
By calculating the phase value when the note passes through the last IPD in the detector module,
the machine judges if a note should be reject by the transport timing or not. These two
parameters are the threshold for the upper and lower limit of the phase value.
If the phase value is inside the range between the G1PhaseLimitLow and the G1PhaseLimitHigh,
then the notes are considered as normal whereas the note having the phase value outside these
ranges are considered as the reject by the transport timing.
This is a parameter for the phase value between the feeder and the stacking wheel. Rotation of
the stacking wheel is synchronized based on the feeder stroke signal, and the parameter is used
as the phase value in between two.
a. The smaller value means that the phase value becomes smaller; therefore, the
stacking wheel is rotating earlier and note tends to enter the stacking wheel with
delay when visually checked with the strobe scope.
b. The larger value means that the phase value becomes larger; therefore, the stacking
wheel is rotating later, note tends to enter the stacking wheel earlier when visually
checked with the strobe scope.
The stacking wheel phase adjustment will be made by observing the trend of the note using
strobe scope. If necessary, adjust the parameter value in the StackerPhaseAdjustWrite to have
the note entering the stacking wheel at the right timing.
