Role: Data Architect / Engineer Lead/Senior Consultant

Overview of the role

complement it. At Devoteam UK, we are growing our capabilities across all of these aspects
and this role is within our Data-Driven Intelligence practice.

As a Lead/Senior Consultant you will be expected to guide and support team members
through technical issues and challenges related to data architecture, engineering and the

overall technology stack.

be able to work autonomously and/ or within a team. You will be able to analyse data sets
and draw meaningful insights for our clients as well as offering them guidance on data
quality. You must have good stakeholder management and communications skills.

Devoteam UK is growing rapidly and we welcome the contributions of everyone in the

Key tasks and responsibilities, including but not limited to

● Participate as a technical reference in developing code for processing and analyzing


large amounts of data (e.g. unstructured tracking data, large full-text data sets, graph
data, etc.);

● Design and implement highly scalable batch or real-time data processing


workflows/components and products that make smart use of data to provide data-
driven functionality (e.g. search services, recommender services, classification
services, etc.), leveraging machine learning, Big Data technology, and distributed
systems;

● Deploy solutions on cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.);

● Work in a cross-functional team and collaborate closely with Data Scientists and
Analysts to support the (technical) design, implementation and evaluation of new
algorithms, machine learning models and other data-driven features and services;

● Using a hypothesis-led approach to solve business problems in a structured and


analytical manner, applying your consulting mind-set;

● Learning new systems and tools quickly, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and
client needs;

● Managing your own work and engagements and engaging with client stakeholders.

Key Technical Skills

We are looking for someone who has some, but not necessarily all of the following:

● Between 3 to 9 years of experience in designing and implementing scalable software


and data-driven services using Big Data technologies, data storages (e.g. relational
databases, key-value stores), data warehouses, and related data processing

technologies, as well as programming languages such as Scala / Java / Python (for
real-time and batch processing).

● Experience in building and optimizing data pipelines that process large datasets using
Spark and Hadoop environment

● Familiar with working on cloud environments especially with data related services

● Hands-on experience in analyzing large datasets (e.g. with SQL, Spark, Python, Hive
etc.).

● Experience with workflow management platforms (like Airflow) and collaborative


platforms (like Jupyter or Zeppelin)

● Good knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

Soft Skills

● Constantly curious about learning new industries, issues and technology, and working in
a dynamic environment;
● Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
● Experience of working in a time-constrained environment;
● Self-starter and highly motivated;
● Excellent organisation skills;
● An appetite to learn and to get involved in a variety of activities to support our client
delivery and internal operations;
● Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
● Analytical and logical;
● Able to work alone and within a team, taking responsibility for their own work and able
to support others as required;
● Good at working with a variety of stakeholders;
● An awareness of their own strengths and knowledge gaps;
● Willing to ask for help as and when it’s required, allowing us to support you and
ensuring that we are collectively delivering a good service to our clients.
