This course builds on the research writing skills introduced in Effective Communication for Filipinos by equipping learners with critical
thinking and problem-solving abilities. By the end of the course, learners will publish a completed research paper that demonstrates an
appreciation for and ethical considerations in research and provides a thorough understanding of the research process.

GRADE 11/12
QUARTER 1

CONTENT The learners demonstrate understanding of the types of research, their characteristics, and processes while considering ethical standards
STANDARDS for designing a research proposal.
PERFORMANCE The learners design a research proposal aiming to address real-world problems across fields based on the published concept paper from
STANDARDS English Communication for Filipinos.

LEARNING COMPETENCIES

Designing a research proposal relevant to the field of interest/s


Describe the characteristics and processes of and ethics in research.
Differentiate qualitative and quantitative research:
a purpose
b nature
c kinds of variables and uses
Revise the concept paper to ensure it aligns with the structure of a research paper:
a research title
b background of the study
c statement of the problem
d scope, limitation, and delimitation of study
e benefits and beneficiaries of study
f literature review
g conceptual and theoretical framework
h definition of terms
i hypothesis (if applicable)
Design the appropriate research methodology (either qualitative or quantitative research):
a research designs
b sample/sampling procedure
c data collection and instrument
d data analysis procedures
e ethical consideration and procedure
QUARTER 2

CONTENT The learners demonstrate understanding of data collection procedures, data analysis and interpretation, and the process of drawing
STANDARDS conclusions and formulating recommendations to publish a completed research paper relevant to their field of interest/s.
PERFORMANCE
The learners publish a completed research paper relevant to their field of interest/s to address real-world problems.
