Technical Brief
Toad Data Modeler was built for database users that: Need an easy-to-learn product that doesnt require training Need an affordable product or want to extend their existing modeling capabilities Want to manage and document changes to an existing data model over time Want to synchronize the data model with the database on an ongoing basis Want to migrate data structures from one database version or platform to another
Many organizations do not perform data modeling every day, since enterprise, modeling solutions are too expensive and complex. Toad Data Modeler solves this dilemma.

Logical Modeling
Toad Data Modeler 3 adds full support for logical data modeling. This is a major addition that facilitates both true business and technical modeling needs. Now, you can model your true business requirements and then transform that data model into a perfectly matching technical implementation, without losing any of the business context in the process.

On-Screen Editing
A very exciting new feature in Toad Data Modeler 3 is on-screen object editing. Below, you can see that the Customer ID column can be easily selected from within the physical model and simply changed on the screen. This is a real time saver. Plus, you can copy, cut and paste items such as attributes and columns across objects as well as models. You can use the standard Microsoft Windows drag-and-drop shortcuts like you do in Windows Explorer. This is a huge productivity enhancing feature, particularly for large models where objects may need to share common items.
Changeable Notation
With Toad Data Modeler 3, you can switch display styles between the very common Information Engineering (IE) and IDEF1X, a popular U.S. government standard. This is possible through the new and flexible architecture within the product. You can also add other notations as time goes oneven the Oracle CASE tools Barker notation. Below is an example of IDEF1X display mode. You simply need to open the main menus Notation item and select what you prefer.
