DATA COLLECTION METHOD

Secondary data collection

Secondary data collection is the process of using data that has already been
collected by someone else. This data can be used for research or analysis.

What is secondary data?

● Secondary data is information that has already been collected for a different
purpose.
● It can be published or unpublished.
● It can be found in a variety of sources, including government publications,
books, journals, and organizational records.
● Why use secondary data?
● Secondary data can save time and provide larger, higher-quality databases.
● It can be essential for social and economic change analysis.
● What are the limitations of secondary data?
● Secondary data may be general and not tailored to a researcher's needs.
● Secondary data may be outdated or inaccurate, especially in marketing
research.

Tools
Secondary data collection tools use existing data to answer questions
for a new study. Some examples of secondary data collection tools include:

● Government data
Data collected by governments, such as census data or health
statistics, can be used for business decisions
● External data
● Data from external sources, such as government data, can
be used to answer questions for a new study
● Explanation
● Secondary data collection tools can be used to answer
questions that are different from the original purpose of the
data. For example, a researcher might use government data
to study the impact of a pandemic on income and
consumption.
WHAT DO YOW MEAN BY COMPARITIVE STUDY

A comparative study is a systematic analysis of two or

more subjects, objects, or ideas to identify their
similarities and differences. The goal is to understand
how the subjects function and emerge, and to describe
and compare their dynamics.
Comparative studies use quantitative and qualitative
methods to investigate and evaluate phenomena and facts
across different areas, subjects, and objects. They can be
used to:

● Define and measure events

For example, the use and effect of an eHealth system can be defined, measured,
andcompared using a set of variables.

● Uncover patterns and relationships

Comparative analysis can help identify patterns, relationships, and causal
connections that might not be immediately apparent.
● Consider variables
thorough comparative analysis often considers variables that affect both sides,
including uncontrollable factors and controllable variables.
