About the Program:
This programme aims to introduce participants to the importance of forecasting in demand planning with
a special focus on latest analytics and machine learning tools such as regression, decision trees, random
forest and boosting algorithms. The program is designed keeping in mind the various techno-managerial
aspects that need to be addressed by the participants. IIM Mumbai faculty have been working on
different domains of applications of statistics, operations research, artificial intelligence and machine
learning, and are actively involved in consulting and applied research projects in the area of operations
and supply chain management. The program is designed as the effective blend for application orientation
with plenty of hand-on case exercises. MS Excel and Python programming will be used for the sessions.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the program, participants
will be familiarized with the concepts of demand forecasting and planning.

Faculty
Debabrata Das is an Associate Professor in the area of Analytics and Data Science at
Indian Institute of Management Mumbai. He did his Ph.D from SJM School of
Management, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His research and teaching interest
revolve around Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Supply Chain
Modelling and Optimization, Multi-Objective Optimization, Operations-Marketing
Interface, Decision Making under Risk and Uncertainty. Before embarking into Ph.D, he
completed his Master’s degree from Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of
Program Chair: Technology, Bombay and also worked as a Risk Analyst in Citi Group Global Services
Prof. Debabrata Das Ltd. He has published his works in reputed international journals such as International
Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research,
Computers & Industrial Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management,
Journal of Cleaner Production, International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing
Technology, Journal of Multi‐Criteria Decision Analysis. He has taught analytics and
data science related topics such as AI/ML Driven Customer Relationship Management,
Applications of AI/ML in Operations & Supply Chain Management, Forecasting for
Business Excellence, AI/ML for Excellence in Demand Planning, Supply Chain
Management, Sourcing & Procurement Management to executives across industries
ranging from Pharma, FMCG, Oil and Gas, Steel, Chemical, Airlines, Hotel and
Hospitality, Logistics and Manufacturing.

Priyanka Verma is an Associate Professor and GENPACT associate Chair Professor at


IIM Mumbai, Mumbai. She holds a B.E. (Mechanical-Gold Medalist from BIT Durg),
M.Tech, and PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in Industrial and
Management Engineering. Her expertise encompasses Logistics and Supply Chain
Management, Supply Chain Analytics, Optimization, Supply Chain Risk and Resilience,
and Manufacturing Strategy modelling. She has published extensively in esteemed journals
such as the International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of
Production Research, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Production Planning &
Program Co-Chair: Control, and International Journal of Logistics Management. Some prominent companies
Prof. Priyanka Verma
for which she has conducted training programs and provided consultancy include HUL,
Tata Steel, Tata Power, Air Asia, Mahindra Logistics, Accenture (Oil and Gas), Genpact,
Hinduja, & others.

Sushmita is a faculty member in the Operations & Supply Chain Management Area at IIM
Mumbai, where she serves as the Genpact Associate Chair Professor. She specializes in
teaching subjects such as Operations Research, Supply Chain Management,
Transportation, Logistics, Large-Scale Optimization, and Data Analytics. Sushmita is
passionate about training and working on large-scale projects with high-performing teams.
She has conducted training programs for prominent companies like Mahindra Logistics,
Unilever, and Tata Steel, and has taught at TAPMI Manipal, IIM Sirmaur and IIM
Kozhikode. Her research and consultancy projects focus on areas such as commercial

management. Sushmita has collaborated with organizations like the World Bank, Air
Asia, and Genpact. Her research work has been published in esteemed journals like the

holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Production Engineering and a doctorate (FPM)
from IIM Kozhikode, with research fellowships at JNCASR and HEC at JNCASR
