Plenary Talk Script

Theme: "Raising the Bar"

Date: February 5, 2025 | Time: 9:00 AM | Venue: PMF 21
Masters of Ceremony: Gabu & Ms. Ina

Opening Remarks

Gabu:
"Albert Einstein once said, ‘Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to
think.’ Today, as future educators, we are not just here to absorb knowledge, but to sharpen our
ability to think critically, to innovate, and to inspire the next generation of learners. And that is
exactly what this plenary talk aims to do—push us to raise the bar in science education."

Ms. Ina:
"Good morning, everyone! Welcome to our Plenary Talk: Raising the Bar. We are delighted to
have all of you here as we embark on a journey of learning and inspiration. I’m Ms. Ina, and
alongside me is my co-host, Gabu. We’ll be guiding you through today’s session, where we will
hear from exceptional speakers who have made remarkable strides in their careers."

Gabu:
"That’s right! We are gathered here today with one goal—to challenge ourselves to go beyond
what we already know, to reach greater heights, and to become the best science educators we can
be!"

Preliminaries

Ms. Ina:
"To formally begin, may I request everyone to please stand for our Opening Prayer, followed
by the National Hymn, ASEAN Hymn, and LNU Hymn." (Pause to allow everyone to stand,
then proceed with the prayer and hymns.)

Welcome Message

Gabu:
"Now, to officially welcome us to this event, let us hear from a respected faculty member of the
Science Department. Please join me in welcoming Prof. Bryan Joseph E. Matillano."
(Applause, then Prof. Matillano delivers the message.)
Introduction of the Speaker

Ms. Ina:
"Thank you, Prof. Matillano, for that inspiring message! Now, before we move on to our plenary
talk, we will first introduce our esteemed speakers. To do that, let us call on Mr. Potenciano
Catayoc, a dedicated 1st-year BSED Science student." (Mr. Catayoc introduces the speakers.)

Plenary Talk Session

(After the introduction, Ms. Ina or Gabu takes over.)

Gabu:
"And now, the highlight of today’s event! We are privileged to hear from two outstanding
individuals who have excelled in their fields. Our first speaker is Mr. Jomanichael Lee Platon
Padilla, LPT. He is a BSEd-Physical Sciences graduate, a review master for UPCAT, DOST
exam, and Civil Service at Brainbox Tutorial and Review Center since 2019, a Civil Service
Exam - PPT Passer, and a Top 4 LET passer in September 2024. Currently, he is pursuing his
MAEd in Science at LNU."

Ms. Ina:
"Joining him is Ms. Kristian Delda Colminar, LPT! She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a
BSEd in General Science (2018-2022) and was a DOST RA 7687 Scholar. She is currently a
DOST-CBPSME Scholar, pursuing her MAT in Natural Science since 2022, and she also
achieved Top 5 in the September 2024 LET!"

Gabu:
"With credentials as impressive as these, I’m sure we’re in for an insightful and inspiring
discussion. Let’s give a warm round of applause to Mr. Jomanichael Lee Platon Padilla and
Ms. Kristian Delda Colminar!" (Speakers take the stage.)

Open Forum

(After the plenary talk session, Gabu or Ms. Ina facilitates the open forum.)

Ms. Ina:
"That was truly insightful! Now, I’m sure many of you have questions after hearing such
inspiring journeys. This is your chance to ask! We will now open the floor for an Open Forum.
If you have a question, please raise your hand, and we will acknowledge you." (Q&A session
proceeds.)

Awarding of Certificate

Gabu:
"To express our gratitude for our speakers, we will now proceed with the Awarding of
Certificates. May we request [Name of Faculty or Organizer] to present the certificates to Mr.
Jomanichael Lee Platon Padilla and Ms. Kristian Delda Colminar." (Certificate awarding
takes place.)

Closing Remarks

Ms. Ina:
"And now, to formally conclude our program, we invite SQU President, Mr. Eld Tolibas, to
deliver the Closing Remarks." (Mr. Tolibas delivers the closing remarks.)

Photo Opportunity

Gabu:
"Before we officially wrap up, let’s capture this special moment! We invite all our speakers,
faculty, and students to come forward for a group photo opportunity." (Photo session takes
place.)

Ms. Ina:
"And with that, we conclude today’s plenary talk! Thank you all for being part of this event. We
hope this session has inspired you to strive for excellence and to always keep raising the bar in
science education!"

Gabu:
"Keep pushing forward, everyone! Have a wonderful day ahead!"
