Factoring Simple Special

Products
Objectives:
 Perform factoring completely polynomials with
common monomial factor (CMF), perfect square
trinomial (PST), difference of two squares (DOTS),
and sum and difference of two cubes (SDOTC).
(M8AL-Ia-b-1)
 Evaluate and reflect problems involving factors of
polynomials. (M8AL-Ib-2)
Common Monomial Factor (CMF)
A polynomial is said to be factored completely when it is written
as a product of its prime factors.

common factor 𝟑𝐱 (𝟐 + 𝐱)
𝟓𝐱 (𝟑 − 𝐲)
÷𝟏𝟐𝐱 𝟐 − 𝟏𝟖𝐱𝐲 + 𝟐𝟒𝐱
𝟔𝐱 (𝟐𝐱 − 𝟑𝐲 + 𝟒)

Lesson Proper
Difference of Two Squares (DOTS)
When we multiply the sum and difference of the same two terms,
we note that the product is a difference of two square.

𝟏𝟎𝐚 −𝟕𝐛 list the square root of
𝟏𝟎𝐚 +𝟕𝐛 each terms
(𝟏𝟎𝐚 − 𝟕𝐛)(𝟏𝟎𝐚 + 𝟕𝐛)

Lesson Proper
Perfect Square Trinomial (PST)
When we square a binomial, the product is called a perfect
square trinomial.
