Dear Customer,
You may have recently read the news regarding Bombardier Aerospace's fiscal 2008 /
2009 annual results and an announcement regarding a planned reduction in our workforce.
I would like to take a moment to discuss this news with you in greater detail, as you may
have questions regarding the impact of planned job cuts on the Customer Services
organization and on our ability to support you moving forward.
Allow me to start off by reassuring you that the forthcoming workforce reductions should
have no impact on the level of service we provide. The difficult decision to reduce our
workforce was the result of a drop in demand for new aircraft - a situation that all
manufacturers in the aerospace industry face - not a lessening of focus on service and
support.
The investment we have made in improving the Customer Services organization and in
instilling our employees with a passion for customer service excellence is yielding results.
We remain more committed than ever, not only to maintain current service levels, but to
improve them further. In short, you are telling us that you are seeing a difference and that
we must continue the course. I am telling you that we will.
Finally, I reaffirm our commitment to supporting you in this downturn, as we have and will,
in the good times. Despite the hardships that exist, we have some bold plans for Customer
Services and Support this year and I look forward to providing you with some good news
in the near future.

LEARJET, CHALLENGER, AND GLOBAL SERIES CUSTOMERS
Parts Logistics - Customer Terms & Conditions - Revised April 2009
In response to your feedback we have changed our Terms and Conditions (T&C) related to core return
times and fees.
The revised April 2009 T&C have eliminated the confusing 5-day grace period and reinstated original core
return times of 15 days domestic and 20 days international. We are retaining the "first day late fee" at
$500 to encourage timely returns.
As a further relaxation, we have formally recognized the difficulty in returning parts from certain country
regions (see below) and will allow 30 days before late fees apply. As always, we encourage you to notify us
in advance should you have some verifiable reason for not being able to comply with a given transaction.
Two major differences in Articles 13 and 14 of the April 2009 revision are:
1. Removal of the "grace period" wording and re-instatement of fixed days. A $500 initial Late Core
Fee is charged on the first day the core is late from the ship date of the serviceable unit. The
overall late fee is still assessed at $100 per day, with outright billing of the new sales price of the
component at day 30.
2. Customers located in Brazil. Russia, India and China (BRIC) regions of the world will now have 30
days to return their cores to Wichita before late charges are assessed. Outright billing of the new
sales price of the component will now occur at day 40.
As with the original T&Cs, when a customer orders a part through Bombardier from a vendor for an
Advance Exchange (vendor owned part), the customer falls under the T&C of that respective vendor. It is
important to note that many of the vendors we deal with have more stringent return times and substantial
penalties for late core returns and return unused fees.
We encourage you to utilize the Online MRA system when working with your returns to Bombardier. This
system provides you with complete visibility and aging of all of your outstanding returns based on your
account number. Using this tool will be an important part in helping you manage your returns and
minimizing the possibility of any fees being assessed. You can sign-up for this functionality through the
CIC and your profile settings*.
A copy of the revised T&C is available for you to review on the password-protected CIC website at
http://www.cic.bombardier.com.
* The Online MRA tool can be requested by logging into the password-protected area of CIC website (http://www.cic.bombardier.com).
Once logged on, select the "my profile" menu located at the upper left corner of your screen. From there you can request access to
MRA and other Online services by selecting the appropriate check box.

CHALLENGER 300
Introduction of a New Main Tire/Wheel Assembly - ATA 32
Bombardier has received many reports from operators of main tire fast shoulder wear (relative to the center
ribs also known as stepwear).
Goodyear has introduced an improvement to the main tire to get a more even tread wear. The
improvement is to narrow the outer grooves from 0.304 inches wide to 0.110 inches and reduce their depth
from 0.290 inches to 0.220 inches. The added weight of tread rubber due to the smaller groove volume is
less than 0.3 lb per tire and was approved by Bombardier, Goodrich and Messier-Dowty. This new tire
went through TSO testing.
This change has shown on other main tires installed on Challenger 601 and CRJ to reduce or eliminate
stepwear without affecting groove cracking or hydroplaning.
A part number change of the main tire and main tire/wheel assembly was requested by Bombardier for
traceability and for operator's notification of a change that will improve the tread wear.

Closet Blow Out Panel - ATA 25
The front left hand closet wardrobe is equipped with a blow out panel which is designed to blow either
inwards or outwards in the unlikely event of a decompression.
It has been brought to our attention that the floor of the wardrobe is being used for storage purposes
despite an advisory placard which states NO STORAGE IS ALLOWED ON FLOOR OF CABINET. Items
stored in front of the panel constitute a danger to passengers and crew in the event of a decompression as
loose items could be propelled into the local cabin area. Additionally the blow out panel may not be
permitted to function to its intended design.
Operators are reminded to observe the placard by not using the floor of the wardrobe for storage purposes.

GLOBAL SERIES
Pressurization Schedule - ATA 21
[REPUBLISH FROM THE MARCH 24TH ISSUE AS THE TITLE & ATA WERE ERRONEOUS]
Some operators have recently experienced discomfort related to pressurization on Global Series aircraft
equipped with Cabin Reduced Altitude Option. The Customer Support investigation confirms that under certain
modes of operation or flight phases, the pressurization system maintains the cabin pressure at the system
specification limits, which may cause passengers discomfort.
This article is written to provide useful information about the cabin pressurization system operation on Global
aircraft equipped with Cabin Reduced Altitude Option. It also provides explanations about the primary mode of
operation, the secondary mode of operation and includes an example.
The PRIMARY mode is used when the following conditions are met:
S AUTO PILOT and vertical navigation (VNAV) are engaged
S FMS information are valid
S LAND ELEV FMS / MAN selector switch is set to "FMS"
During climb, after take-off, the pressurization system sets the cabin pressure to the cruise cabin altitude at the
maximum allowed cabin Rate of Climb (ROC = 500 ft/min). The maximum ROC is maintained until the cruise
cabin altitude is reached, disregarding the aircraft rate of climb.
The cruise cabin pressure is computed by choosing the lowest pressure between the following values provided
by the FMS:
1. Theorical Cabin pressure (PCTH in Table 1) based on FMS cruise Altitude (ZA in Table 1)
2. Landing Field Elevation pressure as computed in FMS.
In secondary mode, the Cabin Pressure Controller (CPC) always uses the current aircraft pressure altitude and
aircraft vertical speed to compute the pressurization schedule for the flight. The calculation is always done
according Table 1.
Example
Primary mode
The Graphic 1 below shows pressurization data that were recorded on a flight. Data was recorded for the first
1:15 minutes, approximately. Time scale is shown on the bottom of Graphic 1.
The following parameters were recorded:
S Cabin Altitude (Green) S Cabin Rate of Climb (Orange) S Aircraft Pressure Altitude (Blue)
The aircraft took-off with a selected FMS cruise altitude of 43,000 ft and a landing field elevation of 500 ft.
Pressurization was in primary mode. After take-off, the cabin ROC went immediately to 500 ft/ min until the
cruise cabin altitude of 4,104 ft was reached.
The cabin cruise altitude was computed to 4,104 ft based on the following:
1. 4,104 ft is the theorical Cabin Altitude (ZCTH in Table 1) corresponding to an FMS cruise altitude of 43,000 ft
(ZA in Table 1).
2. The pressure present at an altitude of 4,104 ft is 12.64 PSI.
3. The pressure present at an altitude of 500 ft is 14.43 PSI (Landing Field Elevation)
4. The pressure at 4,104 ft (12.64 PSI) is lower than the pressure at 500 ft (14.43 PSI).
5. The Cabin Altitude for the flight is therefore 4,104 ft.

GLOBAL SERIES - Pressurization Schedule ... Cont’d from Page 7
In a scenario where the same aircraft would land at 8,000 ft, the cabin altitude would be maintained to 8,000 ft
instead of 4,104 ft for the flight because the Pressure at 8,000 ft (10.91 PSI) is lower than the pressure at
4,104 ft (12.64 PSI).
Secondary mode
About 55 minutes into the flight, the Landing Elevation Switch was selected to Manual causing the system to
change to secondary mode. When selected, the aircraft pressure altitude was 40,000 ft and the FMS cruise altitude
was still 43,000ft. Switching to secondary mode transferred the data source from FMS cruise altitude (43,000 ft) to
current aircraft pressure altitude (ZA) of 40,000 ft. The cabin altitude (ZCTH) decreased to 3,450 ft as per Table 1.
After approximately 10 minutes spent in manual mode, the pilot initiated a climb from 40,000 ft to 45,000 ft. The
cabin altitude re-adjusted by following the aircraft pressure altitude (ZA). The cabin altitude finally stabilized at
4,500 ft (ZCTH) based on the new cruise altitude (ref: Table 1.).
