ABSTRACT
This main objective of the Hospital Management System is to computerize the maintenance of
the patient details and appointment section in the hospital. This system has been developed
form whole management system including Employees, Doctors, Patients, and appointments
etc. It also includes the details about the laboratory equipment. Admin having the rights to
create doctor, employee, equipment details, appointments and user management, These details
are secured and only admin can edit and update the details. There are a lot of benefits to the
Hospital and doctor by placing the system at their registration and doctor appointments. At the
same time the patients are also benefited using this system. They can get the work done within
no time. The Hospital management system can get much out of the system. The system is used
to enter the patient details and to enter the details about the hospital equipment and the details
about the in-patient and out-patient in detail and about the reports of the patients. Doctor
appointments also managed in this application. Using the system Is as simple as using the
personal computer. Since end user Computing is developing in our country. It is beneficial both

Hospital Management System
CHAPTER-1
INTRODUCTION
Hospital are the essential part of our lives, providing best medical facilities to people suffering
from various ailments, which may be due to change in climatic conditions, increased work-
load emotional trauma stress etc. It is necessary for the hospitals to keep track of its day-to-day
activities & records of its patients, doctors, nurses, ward boys and other staff personals that
keep the hospital running smoothly & successfully. But keeping track of all the activities and
their records on paper is very cumbersome and error prone. It also is very inefficient and a
time-consuming process. Observing the continuous increase in population and number of
people visiting the hospital. Recording and maintaining all these records is highly unreliable,
inefficient and error-prone. It is also not economically and technically feasible to maintain
these records on paper. This keeping the working of the manual system as the basis of our
project. We have developed an automated version of the manual system, named as "Hospital
Management System". The main aim of our project is to provide a paper-less hospital up to
90%. It also aims at providing low-cost reliable automation of the existing systems. The system
also provides excellent security of data at every level of user-system interaction and also
provides robust & reliable storage and backup facilities.

THEORY OF HOSPITAL MANEGMENT SYSTEM IN INDIA
HMS was introduced to solve the complications coming from managing all the paper works
of every patient associated with the various departments of hospitalization with
confidentiality. HMS provides the ability to manage all the paperwork in one place, reducing
the work of staff in arranging and analyzing the paperwork of the patients. HMS does many
works like:
Billing Management:
Integrated Billing with treatments, Lab and Radiology. Alerts will be sent on Discount
Authorisation. Automatic due capture, Option to bill before and after consultation.
Prescription Management:
Manage commonly and recently used medicines. Option to show medicines available in the
pharmacy. SMS prescriptions to Patients.

Cost Effective:
HMS not only saves time in the hospital but also is cost-effective in decreasing the number of
people working on the system of manual entry of data and paperwork. The implementation of
His will decrease the human intervention into the system thereby avoiding human-caused
errors.

1.HTML
HTML is the language in which most websites are written. HTML is used to create pages and
make them functional.HTML was first created by Tim Berners-Lee, Robert Cailliau, and others
starting in 1989.It stands for Hyper Text Markup Language, Markup Language is a way that
computers speak to each other to control how text is processed and presented. To do this HTML
uses two things: tags and attributes. HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. It is a
markup language used for creating and structuring content on the web. HTML is the foundation
of all websites, as it defines the structure and content of a web page. HTML uses tags to define
the different elements of a webpage, such as headings, paragraphs, images, links, forms, and

more. Each tag is enclosed in angle brackets (< >) and may have attributes that provide
additional information about the element HTML is an essential skill for web developers, as it
is the primary language used to create web pages. In addition to HTML, web developers often
use other technologies such as CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and JavaScript to enhance the
functionality and appearance of their websites.
2. CSS
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used to define the visual presentation
of web pages. CSS is essential for creating visually appealing and responsive websites that
adapt to different screen sizes and devices.
CSS separates the presentation of a web page from its content, allowing web developers to
define the styles of different elements on a web page. With CSS, developers can control the
font, colour, size, layout, and other visual aspects of a web page. By defining styles in a separate
CSS file, web developers can make global changes to the look and feel of a website without
having to modify each individual page.
CSS uses a cascading system, meaning that styles can be inherited from parent elements to
their child elements, but can also be overridden by more specific styles. This allows developers
to create a hierarchy of styles, where global styles can be overridden by more specific styles
for individual element.

and support available for those learning the language. Additionally, JavaScript can be used with other
web technologies such as HTML and CSS to create complex and engaging web applications.
4.BOOTSTRAP
Bootstrap is a popular front-end development framework that is used to create responsive and
mobile-first websites. It is an open-source framework that includes pre-designed components
and styles, making it easy for developers to create modern and attractive websites, Bootstrap
was originally created by Twitter in 2010 as an internal tool, but it quickly gained popularity
among developers and was released as an open-source project in 2011. Since then, Bootstrap
has become one of the most widely used front-end frameworks for web development. Bootstrap
includes a variety of pre-designed components, such as navigation menus, buttons, forms, and
tables, which can be easily customized and integrated into a website. Additionally, Bootstrap
uses a grid system, which allows developers to create responsive layouts that adapt to different
screen sizes and devices.
Bootstrap is also highly customizable, allowing developers to create their own styles and
components. The framework includes built-in support for Sass, a popular CSS pre-processor,
which makes it easy to customize the look and feel of a website. One of the biggest benefits of
using Bootstrap is its large and active community of developers. There are plenty of resources
and documentation available for those learning the framework, as well as a wide range of third-
party plugins and extensions that can be used to extend its functionality. Overall, Bootstrap is
a powerful and flexible framework that makes it easy for developers to create responsive and
mobile-first websites. Its pre-designed components and styles, along with its customization
options, make it an ideal choice for web development projects of all sizes and complexity.
5.MySQL
MySQL is a popular open-source relational database management system (RDBMS) used for
storing and retrieving data in web applications. It is a powerful and flexible database system
that is used by millions of web applications around the world.
One of the biggest benefits of using MySQL is its scalability. It can handle large amounts of

Through maximum efforts have been put in to make authentic in all aspects and to take all
necessary presentation to ensure that the information gathered is true some uncomfortable
factors may have crept in. Some of the respondents were reductant to part with information on
the pretext of the sensitivity of the information. Also some facts of figures were not divulged
as the company policy came in the way for free revelation of the desired input. An element of
bias might have crept in from the side of official interviewed This could also have resulted in
some kind of modification of the information divulged. Through an attempt was makes to
collect information from the best possible source in the company, it is difficult to meet the top
officials due to their busy schedules. Most of the analysis and interpretations, made for this
report are based on the secondary data obtained. This data could have some inherent mistakes
and errors. Finally, although due care has been taken those can be typing and compilation errors
in the report itself.
