Hospital Management System

CHAPTER-1
INTRODUCTION
Hospital are the essential part of our lives, providing best medical facilities to people suffering
from various ailments, which may be due to change in climatic conditions, increased work-
load emotional trauma stress etc. It is necessary for the hospitals to keep track of its day-to-day
activities & records of its patients, doctors, nurses, ward boys and other staff personals that
keep the hospital running smoothly & successfully. But keeping track of all the activities and
their records on paper is very cumbersome and error prone. It also is very inefficient and a
time-consuming process. Observing the continuous increase in population and number of
people visiting the hospital. Recording and maintaining all these records is highly unreliable,
inefficient and error-prone. It is also not economically and technically feasible to maintain
these records on paper. This keeping the working of the manual system as the basis of our
project. We have developed an automated version of the manual system, named as "Hospital
Management System". The main aim of our project is to provide a paper-less hospital up to
90%. It also aims at providing low-cost reliable automation of the existing systems. The system
also provides excellent security of data at every level of user-system interaction and also
provides robust & reliable storage and backup facilities.

OBJECTIVE OF THE SYSTEM

The project “Hospital management system” is aimed to develop to maintain the day - to-day
state of admission/discharge of patients, list of doctors, reports generation. It is designed to
achieve the following objectives:1. To computerize all details regarding patient details &
hospital details.2. Scheduling the appointment of patient with doctors to make it convenient for
both3. Scheduling the services of specialized doctors and emergency properly so that facilities
provided by hospital are fully utilized in effective and efficient manner.4. If the medical store
issues medicines to patients, it should reduce the stock status of the medical store and vice-
versa.5. It should be able to handle the test reports of patients conducted in the pathology lab
of the hospital.6. The inventory should be updated automatically whenever a transaction is
made.7. The information of the patients should be kept up to date and there record should be
kept in the system for historical purposes.

HTML is the language in which most websites are written. HTML is used to create pages and
make them functional.HTML was first created by Tim Berners-Lee, Robert Cailliau, and others
starting in 1989.It stands for Hyper Text Markup Language, Markup Language is a way that
computers speak to each other to control how text is processed and presented. To do this HTML
uses two things: tags and attributes. HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. It is a
markup language used for creating and structuring content on the web. HTML is the foundation
of all websites, as it defines the structure and content of a web page. HTML uses tags to define
the different elements of a webpage, such as headings, paragraphs, images, links, forms, and

SDC/MVJCE/2022-23 P a g e 13
Hospital Management System

more. Each tag is enclosed in angle brackets (< >) and may have attributes that provide
additional information about the element HTML is an essential skill for web developers, as it
is the primary language used to create web pages. In addition to HTML, web developers often
use other technologies such as CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and JavaScript to enhance the
functionality and appearance of their websites.

2. CSS

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used to define the visual presentation
of web pages. CSS is essential for creating visually appealing and responsive websites that
adapt to different screen sizes and devices.
CSS separates the presentation of a web page from its content, allowing web developers to
define the styles of different elements on a web page. With CSS, developers can control the
font, colour, size, layout, and other visual aspects of a web page. By defining styles in a separate
CSS file, web developers can make global changes to the look and feel of a website without
having to modify each individual page.
CSS uses a cascading system, meaning that styles can be inherited from parent elements to
their child elements, but can also be overridden by more specific styles. This allows developers
to create a hierarchy of styles, where global styles can be overridden by more specific styles
for individual element.

3.JAVA SCRIPT

JavaScript is a high-level programming language that is commonly used in web development It is a

versatile and powerful language that allows developers to create and dynamic web applications.
JavaScript is a client-side language, meaning that it runs in the user's web browser This allows for
dynamic updates to web pages without the need for a page refresh JavaScript can be used to add
interactivity to web pages, such as form validation animation and event handling. JavaScript is also a
server-side language, meaning that it can be used to create side applications and scripts. Server-side
JavaScript is becoming increases singly popular as a way to create scalable and efficient web
applications JavaScript is an object-oriented language, which means that it uses objects to represent
data and functionality. This allows developers to create complex applications with reusable code
JavaScript also supports functional programming which allows developers to create more efficient and
module code. JavaScript is a popular language for web development because of its versatility and ease
of use. It has a large and active community of developers, which means that there are plenty of resources

CONCLUSION

Working on the project was an excellent experience. It helped us to understand the

Importance of planning, designing and implementation so for we have learnt in our theory
books. It helped us unleashing our creativity while working in a team. It also realized the
importance of team working, communication as a part of this project. The project was
successfully completed after a lot of efforts and work hours. This project underwent
number of compiling, debugging, removing errors, making it bug free, adding more
facilities in Hospital Management System and interactivity making it more reliable and
useful. This project focused that scheduling a project and adhering to that schedule
creates a hard sense of time- management. It has also let us known that cooperative
teamwork always produces effective results. The entire project has been developed and
deployed as per the requirements stated by the user. It is found to be bug free as per the
testing standards that are implemented. There are also few features which can be
integrated with this system to make it more flexible. Below list shows the future points
to be consider. Getting the current status of patient Including a different module for
pharmacy, LAB, Bed Allotment and many more. Finally, we like to conclude that we put
all our efforts throughout the development of our project and tried to full fill most of the
requirements of the user.

FUTURE SCOPE OF THE APPLICATIONS:

Through maximum efforts have been put in to make authentic in all aspects and to take all
necessary presentation to ensure that the information gathered is true some uncomfortable
factors may have crept in. Some of the respondents were reductant to part with information on
the pretext of the sensitivity of the information. Also some facts of figures were not divulged
as the company policy came in the way for free revelation of the desired input. An element of
bias might have crept in from the side of official interviewed This could also have resulted in
some kind of modification of the information divulged. Through an attempt was makes to
collect information from the best possible source in the company, it is difficult to meet the top
officials due to their busy schedules. Most of the analysis and interpretations, made for this
report are based on the secondary data obtained. This data could have some inherent mistakes
and errors. Finally, although due care has been taken those can be typing and compilation errors
in the report itself.
