1(a).Factorise completely, 24x² + 2xy - y²

(b) With a well labelled figure, prove the theorem which states that if one side

8.In form 4 west at Milonde CDSS, students learn Computer studies, Business
studies and Spanish. 54 students learn Computers, 52 learn business and 52 learn
Spanish, 12 learn Computer and Spanish only, 11learn Computers and Business
only,14 learn Spanish and Business only, 19 do not learn any of these subjects, while
x students learn all the three subjects, if there are 120 students in the class,
(a) Present the information above in avenn diagram.

he then drives from the town to a lake 60 km away on a bearing of 107°

10.The cost of holiday (C) consist of two parts. One part is constant (A) and the
other part varies jointly as the number of days (D) and the number of people (P).
The total cost for 15 people for 5 days is K41500 and the total cost for 8 people
for 15 days is K41950..What would be the total cost for 12 people for 7 days.

12. A company makes canoes and nets. A canoe takes 2 hours of machine time
and 6 hours of craftsman time. A net takes 4 hours of machine time and 2hours of
craftsman time.The company has a maximum of 56 machine hours and 48 hours
of craftsman time.
a. Taking x to represent the number of canoes and y to represent the
number of nets, write down two inequalities in x and y in addition
to x ≥ 0 and y ≥ 0 that satisfy the above information.
b. Using a scale of 2cm to represent 5 units on both axes ,draw
graphs to show the region represented by the four inequalities
by shading the unwanted region on the graph paper provided.
c. Use your graphs to find the number of canoes and nets the company
can make if it works at full capacity.
