1.1 PROJECT TITLE : Harnessing solar energy for a sustainable heating solution in the school
laboratory.

1.2. THEME :Light

1.3. CHAPTER : Reflection of light in curved surfaces.

1.4 PROBLEM STATEMENT

When we interacted with the school laboratory technician, we realized that there was scarcity
of fuel gas for heating during experiments. We also noted that the costs of gas refills were very high.
In addition, many experiments were not carried out due to the lack of a sustainable heat source. The
challenge was that the school could not manage purchasing fuel gas in large amounts and yet there
was need for heating.
We also noticed that the school had resorted to the use of paraffin for heating. This had poised
risk and danger to both the students conducting the experiments and the environment as well. Paraffin
produced toxic fumes that affected many students with allergies and other respiratory complications.
The fumes were also polluting the air at school.
