ABOUT
"AVISHKAAR," a national-level hackathon that aims to extract the power of innovation and
technology to address real-time challenges faced by both rural and urban communities in India.
This event brings creative minds, tech enthusiasts, and problem solvers across the country
under one roof and wires their innovative minds together to develop cutting-edge tech solutions
that have the potential to create a positive impact on society.
OBJECTIVE
"AVISHKAAR" is a hackathon where people who like to come up with new ideas and use
technology get together. The main goal is to find smart solutions to problems that people face
in both rural and urban in India. We want creative minds, tech enthusiasts, and problem solvers
from all over the country to work together and come up with new and useful tech ideas. The
aim is to create a friendly space where these creative minds can work together and develop
advanced tech solutions that can make a big, positive difference in our society. AVISHKAAR
wants to be a starting point for real changes by focusing on solving practical problems using
technology. The ultimate goal is to inspire a community dedicated to driving innovation and
making our country better.
THEMES
The event encompasses eight thematic pillars, providing participants with a diverse and
comprehensive array of focus areas.
• Digital Empowerment for Rural Communities:
This theme encourages the creation of technology-driven solutions that offer improved
access to education, health care, agriculture, financial services and digital letters.
• Urban Mobility and Traffic Management:
This theme encourages urban living, emphasizing transportation solutions for traffic
congestion, improved public transit, and sustainable travel. Participants strive to create
accessible, efficient, and environmentally friendly cities, prioritizing quality urban life.
• Agriculture and Food Technology:
This theme encourages agriculture encouraging participants to develop innovative
solutions for farming challenges. The focus areas include crop management, supply
chain efficiency, and food distribution, with the aim of enhancing food security,
reducing wastage, increasing productivity, and promoting sustainable practices.

• Medical and Health:
This theme of tech-driven solutions to patient data security and privacy, telemedicine
accessibility & equity, chronic disease management, Rapid Prototyping and Medical
Education.
• Waste Management and Recycling:
This theme encourages envision waste as a resource and inspires tech-driven
approaches in waste collection, separation, recycling, and disposal. Participants in this
theme contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment by reducing pollution, conserving
resources, and promoting circular economies.
• Renewable/sustainable Energy Solutions:
This theme fosters the development of technology-driven approaches to reduce carbon
emissions, promote energy efficiency and create a sustainable energy ecosystem by
leveraging renewable sources like solar, wind, hydro and bioenergy to tackle energy
challenges.
• Tourism and Travel:
This theme encourages dive into smart destination management, Sustainable Practices
and Immense health focus innovations. It mainly focuses on digital nomad solutions in
travel and tourism.
• Student Innovation:
This theme pays attention to solving real-world problems using advanced technology.
It will showcase the student's problem-solving skills & technical prowess in diverse
domains.
PHASES:
PHASE 1: Idea Registration and Submission
AVISHKAAR 2024 invites participants to engage with various themes and contribute their
inventive ideas or solutions. We welcome submissions from both engineering and non-
engineering students, ensuring a diverse range of challenges and perspectives. This inclusive
approach enriches the hackathon experience and fosters comprehensive problem-solving.
Submission Process:
• Abstract and Video: Teams are required to submit an abstract and a 1-minute video
elevator pitch. The video link can be hosted on platforms like Unlisted YouTube videos,
Google Drive, or any similarly accessible format.
• Abstract Format:

▪ Font: Times New Roman
▪ Font Size: 11 for body text, 14 for section titles, and 24 for the project title.
▪ Length: The abstract must be under 2 pages.
▪ Content:
1. Title of your Project.
2. Problem description with pain points and statistical data.
3. Problem validation.
4. Existing solutions and their limitations.
5. Your solution and its uniqueness.
6. Brief technical description and feasibility.
7. Prototype images/Algorithms/Flowcharts/Graphs (if any).
• Video Guidelines:
▪ Length: Maximum 1 minute.
▪ Content:
1. Team Members introduction.
2. Problem description and motivation.
3. Solution overview and implementation plan.
4. Top 3 Novel Features of your solution.
5. Potential positive impact on society, environment, lifestyle, health,
government, etc.
▪ Submission: Upload the video to YouTube and share the link in the submission
portal.
Team Guidelines:
• Each team must consist of 1 to 4 members.
• Team members can be from different streams but must belong to the same college.
Additional Tips:
• Early Submission: To avoid last-minute issues, participants are strongly encouraged
to submit their ideas well before the deadline.
PHASE 2: Evaluation and Announcement of Selected Ideas
The evaluation of submissions in AVISHKAAR 2024 will follow a hybrid approach,
involving both academic and industry experts to ensure a balanced and thorough assessment.
Objective: To evaluate the quality, credibility, creativity, innovation, technical implementation,
problem-solving skills, and potential real-world impact of the submissions.

Criteria for Evaluation:
1. Does the idea address a clear unmet need?
2. How distinct is the idea from existing ones?
3. Does the idea have the potential to disrupt markets, industries, or technology
landscapes?
4. How technically sound is the idea?
5. Is the technology feasible and relevant to current market trends?
6. Does the proposed technology have the potential to create new intellectual property?
This hybrid evaluation approach ensures a comprehensive and meticulous assessment,
considering all aspects of the participants' efforts.
PHASE 3: Mentoring Phase
• Mentors will be assigned to the first 100 shortlisted participant teams for this
hackathon to ensure participants receive guidance, support, and expertise
throughout the event.
• Each participant will be thoughtfully matched with mentors drawn from both
professionals and academicians.
• Participants can look forward to engage in mentoring sessions once a week, which
will serve as opportunities to review project advancements. The frequency of these
sessions will be determined based on the mentor’s availability.
• The participants will benefit from ongoing evaluations, contributing
significantly to the final assessment of their efforts. These evaluations will play a
crucial role in shaping the ultimate review process.
PHASE 4: Announcement of Final Selected Students
Teams advancing to the third phase will undergo thorough review sessions with mentors. These
sessions will evaluate each team's potential, attention to detail, passion for innovation, and
technology preparedness. Mentors will document all observations. Following this, teams will
pitch virtually to a panel of experts, who will determine which teams advance to the grand
finale. Teams selected for further rounds will be announced based on these evaluations.
PHASE 5: Finale Days
The selected teams will converge on campus for an intense 48-hour, non-stop hackathon.
During this time, they will either build their prototypes from scratch or refine them based on
feedback from the jury. Teams will participate in three rigorous evaluation rounds, where their
creativity, technical skills, and ability to integrate suggestions will be closely assessed.

The top 10 teams will then proceed to a high-stakes pitch round, presenting their projects to a
panel of industry chief executives. On the final day of the hackathon, the winners will be
announced and rewarded with prestigious prizes and exclusive goodies, courtesy of our
partners and sponsors:
▪ First Prize : ₹1,25,000
▪ Second Prize : ₹1,00,000
▪ Third Prize : ₹75,000

Registration Opens : 27/09/2024
Submission Deadline : 27/10/2024
Phase 2 Evaluation starts : 28/10/2024
Announcement of Selected Ideas : 05/11/2024
Mentoring Phase : 08/11/2024
Final Selection Announcement : 20/11/2024
Finale Days : To be declared (Mostly in December).
