Technical Report Workshop

The technical report details an experiment where three resistors are soldered in series and connected to a 15V DC supply to measure voltage across each resistor. The results show that the voltage distribution across the resistors closely matches theoretical calculations, confirming the principles of series circuits. The report also outlines the materials and methods used for soldering and desoldering in electronics.

INTRODUCTION

Soldering is the process of joining two metal components by melting a filler

metal (solder) to create a strong electrical and mechanical band. and the
purpose of this experiment is to connect two metal separated parts with each
other

Desoldering is the process of removing solder from electronic components or

connections, often to repair or replace parts, or to rework circuits. This technique
is commonly used in electronics repair and prototyping.

In this experiment, we will solder three resistors in series together and connect
them to a voltage source to form an electrical circuit. We will measure the
resistances and potential difference across each resistor practically to compare
them to theoretical calculations.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

For soldering there are five components. they are:

1-soldering iron used for deating the solder til it reachs its meting point(180-
120 oc) depending on the solder type
2- solder a metal alloy used to create the joint
3-flux a chemical agent used to remove the oxidation and improves solder flow
4-sponge or cleaner which used for cleaning the soldering tip
5-Pcb holder stabilizes components during soldering
6-avometer We use it to measure the value of resistors and voltages
practically.
7-power supply to supply the circuit with a DC voltage source of 15v
8- Three resistors connected in series

On the other side the desoldering tools are:

1-soldreing iron reheat the solder to be removed
2-desoldering pump uses vacuum suction to remove molten solder
3-desoldering braid absorbs melted solder when placed oven it and heated
4-Flux helps with reflowing solder for easier removed

RESULTS

practical theoretical

V1 = 0.15V V1 = 0.14V

V2 = 1.5V V2 = 1.4V

V3 = 14V V3 = 14V

R1 = 1KΩ R1 = 1KΩ

R2 = 10KΩ R2 = 10KΩ

R3 = 100KΩ R3 = 100KΩ

RT = 111KΩ RT = 111KΩ

ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION

The step for soldering

1-prepare the components like clean the surfaces to be soldered
2-heat the joint place the soldering iron tip on the joint for like two seconds
3-apply the solder to touch the solder to the joint not the iron allowing it to flow
properly
4-remove the heat let the joint cool naturally without removing the components
5- inspect the joint a good solder joint should be shing and smooth
6- then soldering the three resistors in series combination and apply the
voltage supply on the two sides of the resistors

The step for desoldering

1-heat the solder use the soldering iron to melt the solder
2-remove the solder sucker, quickly press the release button to vacuum the
molten solder
3-clean the area

CONCLUSION

We noticed that total voltage supplied was 15v therefor the 15v was distributed
to each resistor the 1kΩ toold about 0.14V, the 10kΩ resistor toold about 1.4V
and the 100kΩ resistor toold 14V, as a sum of all these voltages its 15.6V
which is close to the supplied voltage

We see that the result of the voltage of all resistors in series are equals to the
voltage supplied, and the amount of sum of this resistance and we noticed that
the amount of current is similler in each resistor

As a key takeaway , we’re took some keywords like:

 Solder

 Avometer

 Flux

 voltage

 supply

 purported board

 cleaning sponge

 resistors
