Leadership is the ability to guide, direct, and influence others towards achieving a goal or
objective. It can be the process of influencing , inspiring and guiding others towards a common
goal or vision while fostering a positive and productive environment .
The term "gender in business" describes how people's participation, experiences, and
perceptions in professional and organizational settings are influenced by their gender
identification, roles, and society norms.
Gender and leadership in business, it refers to the role and impact of gender on leadership
positions, styles and effectiveness in the business world
Types of leadership
Leadership is a broad concept that can be defined in different ways from different perspectives
by different people. The are different types of leadership in the world including the business
world which may include the following:
Autocratic Leadership:
This is a type of leadership where decisions are made unilaterally without the involvement of
team members or ask for their opinions in the matters at hand. The leader is the one with all
the power in the business. This type of leadership my strangle or limit creativity in the
organisation. In this type of leadership decision making is fast
Democratic Leadership:
This is a type of leadership that involves team members in the decision-making processes,
business matters or engagements of the company ,fostering unit within the organisation but
potentially slowing down it's own decision making. This is because it involves a lot of people
before the decision is made or a final conclusion is formed.
Transformational Leadership:
This type of leadership focuses on inspiring change through vision and enthusiasm through out
the organisation and it's staff, often leading to high levels of employee commitment. This can
also lead to high motivation amongst the employees and blind trust to it's leaders
Servant Leadership:
This type of leadership is unorthodox it prioritizes serving the needs of the team over
traditional hierarchical structures, promoting a supportive work environment. In this type of
leadership the organisation puts the needs of its team over everything else .
