Security information
Siemens provides products and solutions with industrial security functions that
support the secure operation of plants, systems, machines and networks.
In order to protect plants, systems, machines and networks against cyber threats, it
is necessary to implement – and continuously maintain – a holistic, state-of-the-art
industrial security concept. Siemens’ products and solutions only form one element
of such a concept.
Customer is responsible to prevent unauthorized access to its plants, systems,
machines and networks. Systems, machines and components should only be
connected to the enterprise network or the internet if and to the extent necessary
and with appropriate security measures (e.g. use of firewalls and network
segmentation) in place.
Additionally, Siemens’ guidance on appropriate security measures should be taken
into account. For more information about industrial security, please visit
https://www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity.
Siemens’ products and solutions undergo continuous development to make them
more secure. Siemens strongly recommends to apply product updates as soon as
available and to always use the latest product versions. Use of product versions
that are no longer supported, and failure to apply latest updates may increase
customer’s exposure to cyber threats.

Security RSS Feed under https://www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity.

1 Preface
Purpose of the manual
This document contains information on how to set up the SIMIT MCD Add-in. You
need this SIEMENS NX extension to use the SIMIT coupling to the Mechatronics
Concept Designer.
Core content
In this document the requirements for using the SIMIT installation functions to set
up the SIMIT MCD Add-in are given.
It also describes how you can set up the SIMIT MCD Add-in manually if your
system does not meet the requirements.
© Siemens AG copyright 2020 All rights reserved
If your system settings meet the requirements above, the SIMIT MCD Add-in is
installed during the SIMIT installation.
This happens automatically if you select the installation of the SIMIT MCD Add-in
during the SIMIT installation.
The files are stored regardless of whether your system settings meet the above-
mentioned requirements for an automatic installation.
C:\Programs\Siemens\NX1899\UGII\menus
Please note that this directory structure may differ depending on your SIEMENS
NX version.
Using the environment variable UGII_CUSTOM_DIRECTORY_FILE you can adjust
the target directory for the Custom_dirs.dat file to your requirements.
You should therefore check in your system settings which target directory is
referenced for the configuration file Custom_dirs.dat.
3.2.2 Extending the configuration file Custom_dirs.dat for the SIMIT MCD
Add-in
To enable SIEMENS NX to use the SIMIT MCD Add-in, it must be entered in the
configuration file Custom_dirs.dat.
Open this configuration file in the correct target directory of your system settings
and add the path specification that refers to the storage directory of the SIMIT MCD
Add-in at the end of the file. In standard installation case add the following entry:
