MyChart Passkey Tipsheet

MyChart now allows patients to log in using passkeys, which are encrypted digital keys that enhance security and convenience by enabling login through biometric methods like fingerprints or facial recognition. Passkeys offer a faster alternative to traditional passwords and can bypass two-step verification, although they are limited to specific domains. Users can set up passkeys by following a series of steps within the MyChart interface and can log in using passkeys by scanning a QR code with their mobile devices.

Securely Log In to MyChart with Passkeys

Patients can now use passkeys when logging in to MyChart, providing a safer and more convenient way to log in.
Audience: MyChart users

Try It Out: What is a Passkey

What is a passkey?
• Passkeys are encrypted digital keys that allow you to log in to MyChart with your fingerprint, face, or screen lock.
Why should I use a passkey?
• Passkeys are a faster, more secure alternative to passwords that you do not need to remember. Passkeys can also
allow you to skip two-step verification.
Where can I use my passkeys?
• You can use passkeys on any device where you have access to your password manager.
Passkeys are easier to use than passwords, and they are more resistant to phishing, credential stuffing, and password spray
attacks. Passwords still exist as a backup, but patients with passkeys can log in without using their MyChart passwords.
However, passkeys are restricted to specific domains, so patients cannot use the same passkey across different affiliate sites
