a) Reflection A: With what you now know about transition, describe five ideas that

you will incorporate into your teaching.

1. The creation of unique transition plans for students with disabilities will be my top
priority. These plans will detail precise procedures and supports to help them
successfully make the transition from childhood to adulthood, as well as their strengths,
interests, and post-school goals.

2. Activities for job exploration and chances for experiential learning will be incorporated
into my lessons. To do this, it will be necessary to introduce students to a range of
employment options, promote job shadowing opportunities, organize guest speakers
from other fields, and set up internship or volunteer opportunities.

3. I will encourage students to engage in self-reflection and goal setting as part of their
transition planning process. This may involve regular check-ins, discussions about their
progress and challenges, and setting short-term and long-term goals.

4. Focusing on teaching essential life skills that are crucial for independent living and
successful transition. This can include skills such as time management, organization,
self-advocacy, problem-solving, and financial literacy.

5. I will actively seek collaborations with community organizations, agencies, and

employers to support the transition process. By partnering with external stakeholders, I
can provide students with access to resources, mentorship opportunities, and potential
post-school connections.

b) Reflection B: Reread your Baseline Survey and briefly compare your

responses there to your current understanding of special education.

My knowledge of special education has grown and deepened over time. I now have a
more thorough understanding of the special education ideas, beliefs, and practices
thanks to the course.

In my earlier comments, I stressed the value of showing compassion for students with
impairments, being patient with them, and modifying teaching methods to their unique
needs. My knowledge has grown to include the legal and policy frameworks that direct
special education services, even though these features continue to be vital. I now have
a better understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the
Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) procedure, which are crucial in ensuring that
students with disabilities receive appropriate individualized educational support.
The course has also made me more familiar with a larger variety of instructional
approaches, interventions, and assistive technologies that can successfully help
students with disabilities. I now know about evidence-based techniques and
interventions for disabilities, including differentiated learning, the use of visual aids, and
the application of behavioral management strategies.
