BLOOMBERG APPRENTICESHIP GUIDE
By submitting your application to this role, you are applying to both CAMS and
Analytics, during our recruitment process we will match you to a suitable team. Anyone
who starts their Apprenticeship in CAMS will move to Analytics after one year, anyone
who starts in Analytics will stay there for the duration of their programme. Please
ensure you have a strong understanding of both teams before submitting your
application!
Who we are:
1. Directing the sales team to other teams in the business who can help and support
them in their work
2. Providing training to the sales team and try to improve internal processes in order
to streamline workflows. For example, the CAMS team hold a monthly training
session for sales teams where they will present on different functionalities within
the terminal in order to enhance account management and show them how to
access certain information such as history of a terminals usage, how different
accounts are linked etc.
3. The main responsibility is to help coordinate larger projects, meaning work on large
orders, relocating accounts, new business proposals, potential orders etc. When
Bloomberg receives a proposal from a new or existing client, the CAMS team take
charge of that project. They collaborate with all internal stakeholders, such as legal,
CRCO, core sales, product sales etc. The reason this is needed/important is
because Bloomberg receives a lot of business proposals and has a lot of different
products, we need to make sure we are providing the client with a detailed and well
thought out response so we can 'win' the business. CAMS manages this process
from receiving all the way to submission
BLOOMBERG APPRENTICESHIP GUIDE
As a CAMS apprentice, you will be trained on all of the request types that the rest of
the Team works on, from the smaller operational requests we assist our Sales
department with, through to our more complex tasks such as Requests for Proposals,
where CAMS are the project managers for these potentially revenue generating
requests. The CAMS requests that you work on will be captured in what we refer to as
tickets, and you will be responsible for managing your own time and ticket
dashboards.
Due to the wide range of queries we support Sales with, there is a lot of variety in the
role, and no one day is the same! You will interact with multiple internal departments
on a daily basis and will have the opportunity to build a strong internal network.
During
and post-training you will also shadow multiple departments (such as those CAMS
work most closely with), and you will have the opportunity to build good working
relationships with the Sales representatives CAMS support. Outside of your work on
tickets, you will also be encouraged to come up with ideas for your own projects. Our
current and former apprentices have for example created new training resources that
benefit the Team as a whole and beyond.
CAMS is a very collaborative team, so you whilst you will become more independent
in working on your tasks over time, you will always have more experienced members
of the Team around you to provide support as needed, whether in person, via instant
chats or Zoom calls. During your time in the Team, you will also have weekly 1-2-1s
with your Team Leader, attend weekly team meetings, and have bi-weekly ticket
reviews with experienced members of the Team. Overall, you will develop multiple
transferable skills that will be applicable throughout your degree apprenticeship.
After 1 year within CAMS, apprentices will move into the Analytics team for the rest of
the apprenticeship program, to find out more about the Analytics team watch this

Employee Operations
Who we are:
From workplace security and facilities management to overseeing our supply chain,
transport logistics and IT support, we keep Bloomberg moving.
IT Support
The Global Information Systems team is responsible for designing, deploying and
supporting Bloomberg’s internal IT systems, including our global corporate network
and the hardware and software our employees rely on to do their jobs in a fast-paced,
highly-demanding, technology-focused environment. We work at scale. Our 19,000
global employees generate more than 320,000 service requests each year through a
ticketing system that drives both human and automated services — from downloads
of over 400 different software titles to desktop dispatches. And the IT Support team
monitor and implement security for a corporate network that consists of 28,000 PCs,
50,000 screen displays and over 120,000 network connections.
Workplace Operations
Our top priority is to provide a safe and healthy work environment. The Workplace
Operations team help our events team host high-profile events for our guests and
clients all over the world, providing Front of House hospitality to guarantee that visitors
have an amazing experience. They work hand-in-hand with our businesses to support
them in achieving success and maintaining efficiency. Together they ensure that our
workplaces are well-maintained (and that our pantries are well-stocked), procure and
distribute goods and services, move our people safely between our global locations,
manage vendor-related risks, and keep our employees, assets and networks secure.
Supply Chain
Operating out of 22 locations across 12 countries, the Supply Chain team plan,
manage and distribute the goods and services that Bloomberg’s clients and offices
need to do business. Our global model poses the rare challenge of not just handling
the products in our warehouses, but also those in our customer’s hands. If a trader’s
Bloomberg keyboard breaks it’s our job to swap it for a new one as fast as possible,
with minimal disruption to their business.

A day in the life of an Apprentice in Employee Ops would look something like the
below:
2. Opportunity to work with all levels of the business, from third party vendors,
Individual Contributors to VIPs
4. Delivering platinum level customer service and best in class technical support to
our 22,000+ colleagues in all offices, globally
#MAKEITHAPPENHERE
BLOOMBERG APPRENTICESHIP GUIDE
Enterprise Data
Who we are:
Enterprise Data is made up of different teams that all support our clients in various
ways. They deal with Bloomberg Enterprise Data products rather than the Bloomberg
terminal functionality.
Enterprise Data products can be divided into 2 broad categories: Real-time / streaming
data (our most popular products being Bpipe, Server API, Managed Feed Adaptor,
Events Driven Feeds) and Reference / Static Data (our flagship product is Data
Licence). These products are delivered in a variety of mechanisms including SFTP,
Webservices, Restful API and Cloud Technologies.
Support - this is where you would start your apprenticeship, supporting clients post
production i.e. once a client has activated a Bloomberg service and has started using
it. After 12-18 months in this team, you would have the opportunity to move to a variety
of other teams within department, such as:
2. Content Specialists - This team work with clients before the sale of an Enterprise
product, helping clients map their data to the data and products that we offer
3. Solutions Engineers - These are our network specialists involved in both pre and
post sales. They code and develop the best technical solutions for different client
use-case scenarios
4. Technical Account Managers - These are our consultants, advising clients both
pre and post sales of the best technical solutions. They coordinate projects to
ensure that all parties, sometimes from different departments, work together
towards the common goal of delivering these technical solutions to clients
#MAKEITHAPPENHERE
BLOOMBERG APPRENTICESHIP GUIDE
First 12 – 18 Months
The first 12-18 months of the program will be spent in the Support team. This would
involve receiving a lot of training from others within the team, and the training would
start with dealing with reference data i.e. Data License. Around 80% of queries that
come to Enterprise Data are in relation to Data License, such is the immense
popularity of this offering. Whilst being guided through your training, you would also
be tasked with dealing with queries from our clients. These would be queries that come
through our customer service centre.
Examples of Data License queries you might be dealing with would be:
• Helping clients to log in to the customer service centre, whether they are unsure
how the process works, or have issues with passwords
• Explaining why data received doesn't match what they currently see on the
terminal i.e. troubleshooting historical data by using various terminal functions to
understand what was the data in our database at the time at which the file was
generated
• Understanding why data may not match what's published by the exchange i.e.
understanding the journey of a data tick from the source to our delivery machines
and understanding at which stage of that process a discrepancy may have
occurred
• Queries on specifics of the data they are looking at e.g. does this data make sense,
is it correct at the time the file was generated? Liaising with Global Data or
engineers if further expertise is required
#MAKEITHAPPENHERE
BLOOMBERG APPRENTICESHIP GUIDE
In the future
Over time, apprentices would then begin to deal with queries regarding real-time data,
where the level or urgency is higher compared to working with Data License. This is where
coding skills, computing language skills really can come into play.
• Connectivity issues e.g. interpreting internal or client logs to understand if this is related to
authentication (i.e. not having the right login details) entitlement or
connectivity and troubleshooting accordingly
• Latency issues e.g. client complaints about receiving data with a delay. Even if this
delay is of mere seconds, this is unacceptable for real-time clients, so triaging and
troubleshooting quickly and thoroughly is a key balancing act
• Data availability - clients will often ask about instrument or field availability. A strong
understanding of our data offering will allow you to correct these sorts of queries.
Apprentices would also work on projects alongside the day-to-day role. Projects allow
apprentices to get exposure to other teams with Enterprise Data. This past year alone
apprentices have worked with the Implementation team helping clients renew the time
sensitive web services certificates renewals. They've also worked with Technical
Account Managers helping clients perform their bi-annual real-time data reporting.
This is a compliance requirement. Apprentices have also helped our Solution
Engineers promote their Developer Days, which are large events where we invite
external clients to our office to demo our latest technical offerings.

#MAKEITHAPPENHERE
BLOOMBERG APPRENTICESHIP GUIDE
The start of each day begins by reviewing data on our current vendor engagements,
checking emails and updates and contract terms. Each day is not the same as the other ad
we can get involved in reviewing vendor contract, searching the market for prospective
vendors and, vendor performance to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for
improvement among other. We often engage in meetings with key internal stakeholders,
such as Finance, Business Units such as Engineering, Marketing, Workplace Operations, and
senior management, to discuss monthly metrics, address governance and control concerns,
and align on goals around operational resilience. Meanwhile, the Sourcing Manager can also
focus on broader strategic initiatives, such as developing sourcing strategies, optimising
vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements like DORA for
financial institutions. Throughout the day, they work closely to assess new vendor options,
support Supplier Due Diligence efforts, and update the preferred vendor list by category,
which helps streamline purchasing for the end-users. Regular collaboration is also required
with our Vendor Risk Management and Procurement teams to enhance processes and
respond to emerging business needs, ultimately driving value and resilience across the
organisation.
