W ORLD AIDS DAY


Observed annually on December 1.
Purpose: To raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, support those living with the condition, and remember
lives lost to AIDS-related illnesses.
First Observed: 1988, making it the first global health day.
Theme : "Take the rights path: My health, my right!".

N ATIONAL POLLUTION CONTROL DAY


Observed annually on December 2.
Objective: To raise awareness about pollution and its harmful effects on health and the environment.
Significance: Commemorates the victims of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy (1984), one of the world’s worst
industrial disasters, caused by a leak of methyl isocyanate gas, leading to thousands of deaths and long-
term environmental damage.
Theme : "Clean Air, Green Earth: A Step Towards Sustainable Living."

I NTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ABOLITION OF SLAVERY


Observed annually on December 2.
Aim : to raise awareness about the prevalence of modern slavery and its various forms, including human
trafficking, forced labor, child labor, and forced marriages.
Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1986 to focus on ending modern slavery practices.

WORLD C OMPUTER LITERACY DAY

Aim : To spread awareness about the importance of technological skills and encourage their development
worldwide.

planet’s wildlife biodiversity balance.

In 2012, Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State at that time, put out a call to action to raise awareness and

INTERNATIONAL V OLUNTEER DAY (IVD)

Theme : “Recognize volunteers' contributions to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”.

ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY

EXERCISE AGNI WARRIOR (XAW-2024)


Current Context : Recently, the 13th edition of Exercise AGNI WARRIOR (XAW-2024) concluded at Field
Firing Ranges, Devlali (Maharashtra).
About Exercise AGNI WARRIOR:
It is a joint military exercise between the Indian Army and Singapore Armed Forces.
Aimed at enhancing mutual understanding of artillery drills and achieving jointness as a multinational
force under the UN Charter.
Participants :
Involved 182 personnel from Singapore Artillery and 114 from the Indian Army's Regiment of Artillery.

EXERCISE CINBAX
Current Context : The 1st edition of Joint Table Top Exercise, CINBAX commenced at Foreign Training
Node, Pune.
About Exercise CINBAX:
Participants: Jointly conducted by the Indian Army and Cambodian Army.

Objective: Enhances coordination in Counter-Terrorism (CT) operations under Chapter VII of the UN
Charter.

HARIMAU S HAKTI 2024


Current Context: India- Malaysia Joint Military Exercise ‘Harimau Shakti’ commenced in Malaysia.

About Harimau Shakti 2024


It is annual training event conducted alternatively in India and Malaysia.
Aim: To enhance joint military capability of both sides to undertake counter insurgency operations in
jungle terrain.

DESERT K NIGHT EXERCISE: TRILATERAL AIR COMBAT EXERCISE


Current Context : India, France, and the UAE have commenced an air combat exercise named “Desert
Knight” over the Arabian Sea.
Aim : to enhance defense cooperation and improve the ability of the three countries’ air forces to operate
together in complex combat scenarios
The event takes place in the Arabian Sea, approximately 350-400 km southwest of Karachi, lasting three
days
Aircraft Involved:
India: Sukhoi-30MKIs, Jaguars, IL-78 refuellers, and AEW&C systems deployed from Jamnagar
France: Rafale jets, known for their versatility and advanced combat capabilities
UAE: F-16 fighters stationed at Al Dhafra airbase

SLINEX-24 (SRI LANKA–INDIA EXERCISE 2024)


Current Context :Bilateral naval exercise SLINEX held between India and Sri Lanka.
Location: Visakhapatnam, under Eastern Naval Command.
Participating Units:
India: INS Sumitra (Offshore Patrol Vessel) and Special Forces team.
Sri Lanka: SLNS Sayura (Offshore Patrol Vessel) and Special Forces team.
