1. Basics of Soccer
 Soccer (also known as football outside North America) is a team sport played between
two teams of players each11.
 The objective is to score more goals than the opposing team by getting the ball into their
net.
 A standard match consists of two halves of 45 minutes each, with a 15-minute halftime
break.
 The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end.

2. Rules and Gameplay


 The Ball: Must be spherical and within a set size and weight (FIFA regulations).
 Scoring: A goal is scored when the entire ball crosses the goal line between the
goalposts and under the crossbar.
 Offside Rule: A player is offside if they are nearer to the opponent’s goal than the ball
and the second-last defender when receiving a pass.
 Fouls: Includes tripping, pushing, handball, and dangerous play. These result in free
kicks, penalty kicks, or yellow/red cards.
 Throw-ins, Goal Kicks, and Corner Kicks: Used to restart play when the ball goes out of
bounds.
 Teams: Each team consists of 11 players, including one goalkeeper.
 Objective: Score more goals than the opposing team within 90 minutes (two 45-minute
halves).
 Ball in Play: The game starts with a kickoff and continues unless the ball goes out of play
or the referee stops it.

Key Rules:
 Offside Rule: A player is offside if they are closer to the opponent’s goal than the ball
and the second-last defender when receiving a pass.
