2. Number Theory
Tip: Use the Ladder Method to find LCM and HCF easily.
Example: LCM and HCF of 18 and 24 using ladder: LCM = 72, HCF = 6
Practice: Find LCM and HCF of 30 and 45
3. Consumer Arithmetic
Tip: Simple Interest: I = P × R × T ÷ 100
Example: I = 400 × 5 × 3 ÷ 100 = $60
Practice: Find interest on $250 at 6% for 2 years
4. Sets
Tip: Use mental Venn diagrams to quickly find unions and intersections.
Example: A = {1, 2, 3}, B = {2, 3, 4} → A ∪ B = {1,2,3,4}, A ∩ B = {2,3}
Practice: A = {2,4,6}, B = {4,5,6} → Find A ∪ B and A ∩ B
5. Measurement
Tip: Area of trapezium: ½ × (a + b) × height
Example: Area = ½ × (8 + 12) × 5 = 50 cm²
Practice: Find the area of a trapezium with bases 10 cm and 6 cm, height 4 cm
6. Statistics
Tip: Sort data first to find the median easily.
Example: List: 4, 2, 8, 1, 5 → Sorted: 1, 2, 4, 5, 8 → Median: 4
Practice: Find the median of: 7, 3, 5, 2, 9
7. Algebra
Tip: Use patterns like difference of squares to factor quickly.
Example: x² - 9 = (x - 3)(x + 3)
Practice: Factorize: x² - 16
