BACKGROUND

Nile International Academy – NIA was established in September 2011. The school offers Cambridge
Curriculum, the bridge to global higher institutions. The classes available are Cambridge Foundation,
Cambridge Checkpoint - Primary and Cambridge Secondary 1 & 2. South Sudan curriculum is
incorporated in some subjects.

The school is seeking to recruit qualified teachers to fill the positions above. These positions are open to
both Nationals and non-nationals.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Prepare professional documents: scheme of Work, Lesson plans, lesson notes, class register and
learner progressive record.
 Teach assigned class
 Use learner centered methodologies to bring about live deliverance of the desirable goals
 Keep accurate students’ progress records. Also, inform parents of students' progress by way of
report cards and, where necessary, letters.

 Prepare and use the class register for every lesson. Report the issues of irregular attendance of a
learner to the Head Teacher.
 Maintain the discipline of the learners in the school via implementation of school rules and
regulations.
 Maintain adherence to South Sudan teachers’ code of conduct
 Ensure that there is absolutely zero tolerance to corporal punishment, and abuse.
 Organize and participate in mass co-curricular activities
 Participate in psycho-social support activities in the school
 Deliver all lessons assigned by the Head Teacher
 Report any concern in the school to the Head Teacher
 To maintain inventories of all textbooks and materials issued to students and to ensure the
return of these.
 To attend all relevant meetings, including planning meetings.
 To be informed about the curriculum in which he/she teaches by selecting the lesson content
and activities which are appropriate to the needs of each student in his/her class(es), in relation
to the school’s philosophy and objectives individual meetings.
 To care for the classroom(s) in which he/she teaches and ensure that the room(s) is/are
conducive to learning.
 To undertake other duties assigned by the Head Teacher and the Scholl Administration
 Comply with the quality standards of teaching at the school by fulfilling all the quality indicators
as outlined in the school quality assurance guide.

Required Qualifications and Experience

 Bachelor Degree of Education in particular field from recognized institution


 Master Degree in a field is an added advantage
 Proven teaching experience in the field for more than five years
 Excellent written and spoken English
 Strong organization skills and ability to act professionally
 Strong communication skills
