Lab Assignment 7

Program- B.Tech Type- Core

Course Code- CSET 207 Course Name-Computer Networks

Objective:

VLSM stands for Variable Length Subnet Mask where the subnet design uses more than one
mask in the same network which means more than one mask is used for different subnets of a
single class A, B, C or a network. It is used to increase the usability of subnets as they can be of
variable size. It is also defined as the process of subnetting of a subnet. In VLSM, subnets use
block size based on requirement so subnetting is required multiple times. Suppose there is an
administrator that has four departments to manage. These are the sales and purchase
department with 84 computers, development department with 48 computers, accounts
department with 25 computers and management department with 10 computers. All the four
departments are connected using two WAN as shown in the figure.

Task 1: Create a network infrastructure with three routers, two switches and 10 end devices. Take the address
block 192.168.10.0/24 for network. Create four LAN X, Y, Z, W. Use VLSM.

Task 2: Configure the interfaces on the R1, R2, and R3 routers with the IP addresses. Use the show IP
interface brief command to verify that the IP addressing is correct and that the interfaces are active.

Task 3: To use Ping commands to verify the connectivity of END devices and to trace the path.

Task 4: Understand and explore PDUs and simulation scenarios.

Submission Guidelines:
a) The assignment must be verified by the instructor during the lab (Submission on LMS will only
be considered once the working topology on Packet Tracer is verified). Submit the .cpt file
along with the details in word/pdf in zipped format on LMS within 2 days.

b) Zipped files must be saved as per the format RollNo_Lab# (Example: E21CSE632_Lab1).
c) Write the name and enrolment number inside the assignment file. Without it, your submission
won’t be considered for evaluation.
d) Provide labels for IP addresses, cable and devices.
e) Submit the assignment in your respective batch’s submission link in LMS. Submission in
other batch’s submission portal will not be checked.
f) Late submission will lead to penalty.
g) Plagiarism will lead to negative grading.
