This product is designed to record measured values of indoor air pressure. Do not use it for other purposes.
Read this manual thoroughly before use, and keep it for future reference.

Before Use

Place the instrument in a stable atmosphere (the place that temperature is stabilized) for one hour or more before
use and confirm that the indicated value is within the accuracy specified in comparison with the reliable barometer.
If the value is out of the accuracy specified, refer to Indication Adjustment.

Tips for Installation and Precautions
1. To replace batteries
1. When the battery lamp goes off, tilt the knob on the cylinder outward to open the battery
lid.
2. Replace the batteries, and tilt the knob outward again to close the lid. Confirm that the
battery lamp blinks in green.
 Two batteries must be replaced with two unused C zinc-carbon batteries (1.5V)
simultaneously every year in correct polarity.
 Do not mix different types of batteries such as old and new, zinc-carbon and alkaline.
 Do not heat, recharge, short-circuit, or disassemble the batteries. Do not put them in a fire.
 If battery fluid leaks out, wipe it away firmly. If the fluid contacts with your skin or garment, wash it with a lot
of water.

The battery lamp turns off when the voltage falls below 2.2V ± 10% (at room temperature). After it turns off,
the recording cylinder stops in around a month. Replace batteries immediately when the light goes off.

2. To replace cartridge pen

1. Pull the pen lifting knob toward you until it stops.
2. Pinch the pen arm and pull the cartridge pen toward the direction of the arrow in the
right image.
3. Insert the new pen onto the pen arm until the pen stops. Make sure you don’t touch
the pen tip, or grease on fingers causes clogged ink.
 Each cartridge pen lasts around six months on 7-day chart, but the life may be shortened depending on
environments.
Note: Do not use cartridge pens other than our dedicated models.

3. To replace chart
 To wind the chart onto the cylinder, overlay the end side of the chart upon the start side at the position of
the chart holder.
 Let the lower edge of the chart contact the bottom flange on the cylinder.
 Be sure that the chart does not loose, tilt, get upside down, or fail to overlay firmly.
 When 32-day chart is used, set the speed switch to “32D” from its default status “7D.”
Note: Do not use chart sheets other than our dedicated models.

4. To set time
1. First, turn the cylinder clockwise until the pen points toward one or two hours ahead the current time.
2. Adjust the cylinder to the current time by turning it back. This process removes play between gears and
contribute to accurate clock movement.
 Procedures in a wrong order may lead to an error in time.

5. To carry instrument
Make sure the handle is locked before lifting it up.

 Unsuitable Locations to Install

Do not place the instrument in the followings, or it may cause indication errors.
 Where vibration, shock, or inclination exists
 Outdoors, except in an instrument screen
 Places subject to splashing water, emission from an air conditioner, or direct sunlight
 Dusty, smoky, oily, or corrosive gas environment
 Where vent holes of the acrylic cover are blocked

3
 Other Precautions
 Use the instrument within the measuring range.
 Do not cover the instrument with a vinyl or the like even if you wish to protect it from water. If so, correct
value will not be obtained
 Do not disassemble the instrument. Doing so may result in failure.
 Remove batteries during transportation.

Indication Adjustment

Preferably, do not adjust the indication on a user’s end. In case it is necessary, wait
for one hour after the instrument is placed at a desired site in advance and then
compare the indication with a reliable reference.
To increment the reading, turn a fine adjustment screw located on the bottom of the
pen arm (pointed in the right picture) clockwise with a negative screwdriver. To
decrement, turn the same anticlockwise.
Periodical recalibration by us for a fee is recommended, for example once a year.

 Adjuster for high altitude

This instrument is primarily modified to measure between 940 and 1045
hPa. To adapt to high altitude such as Mexico or Ethiopia where the air
pressure is out of the above range, request a special roll of paper from
us and set the adjuster as follows:
1. Loosen the small screw in the left of the adjuster gently, then turn
the mounting screw on the top to adjust the reading.
2. Tighten the small screw in the left, then adjust more with the fine
adjustment screw.

Do not touch this part within 940 to 1045 hPa.

 Sea Level Correction

Weather authorities announce any
atmospheric pressure data after
conversion to a value at the mean sea
level. This is because conversion to
values at a certain altitude is required to
compare pressure data of different
heights.
As altitude increases, the air becomes
less dense and exerts lower pressure.
This relation is approximated by falling
of 12 hPa per 100 m of height difference, as illustrated above. For example, if a barometer indicates 1001 hPa
at a height of 100 m above sea level, it can be converted to 1013 hPa above sea level.
The correlation between altitude and the addition value for sea level correction is illustrated below.
